Well, the police was busy Damn baby sitting school kids and sitting in air condition office masquerading as social workers, thats why one could not find any cops within a mile of bay streets and the high crime area. The PLP government was an experiment in failure.

Pharoah. We give up one good thing, to throw police officers out to an ongoing fire. The PLP tried to take the matches away as well as the gasoline away from the people who start the problems.

We need new police officers...and as I said..by the way their recruitment agencies are, dodgy to say the very least, we need to just take on men and women as much as possible.

With that, the schools are war zones Pharoah...when was the last time you ever visitied a government school!?!?
The teachers need protection from these gang members....you can not live in the Bahamas, if you can not see that the schools are war zones and need police protection.

We can't spare 10 officers for a week?
Call up a few reserve guys for a week.
We can't spare 10-20 officers for a week-long sting?

You know. Ten guys with Guns would do justice to the down town market. I know we don't want to look like a heavily policed state, but, hey...some of these tourists come from a place, especially Americans, where police pressence is common place.
:hammer:

Put cops and guys downtown in force...10 men on **** is all we need.
Simple!

Give some sidearms (guns). Give the rest tasers.

You hardly notice when an officer in a neat uniform walks past with a gun, but you feel safe.

The tourist would enjoy it if they wore the big white hats. They are very picturesque.

Just heard that the tourist are being bombarded by ruffians and drug dealers, prostitutes when they come of the ships in Nassau.
There are also a crapload of folks being vagrants in the area.
Why can't the RBPF conduct a huge sting in that area, down Bay Street and on to Rawson Square? 10 undercover officers for a week?
~~

Look here Sunny.........one hot, HOT summer day last year my boys bugged me to take them on the beach. Since I was wasting current anyway with the iar condo on, I say, lets go.

We went to Cabbage Beach.

We found a spot under the trees, I let them go in the water so I could read in peace. THERE IS NO PEACE ON DAT BEACH!!

Look here, I know I don't look like a tourist but because only tourist are on that beach during a week day afternoon the vultures approached me in droves. You wan one coconut..........you wan one towel...........you wan braid ya hair.......you wan water.........you wan rent one jetski or banana boat........you wan one tee shirt or some beads.........you wan some WEED:jawdroop: The harrasment never stopped. I have never read the same page so much in my life. After two hours of that crap I had had enough. The poor tourist come here to relax and get away. They end up buying the tee shirts that say No, I don't want a tee shirt, No I don't want a jetski ride......I only want peace and quiet!!

Have you ever heard of Professional security. Put the trained Police officer on the streets where they belong.

I came downtown with my desceased brother who is an American, he came with his girlfriend, and they thought I was a tourist as well.

They grabbed on her, and they asked them if they wanted weed and such..I mean, some real dodgy lookin fellas. Dope sellin fiends...as well as nasty and rude, and touched my people....unacceptable as this was at least 3-4 years ago.

I know for a fact it happens..and it makes me sick!

This is not brand new. Apparently we do not have a large enough police force. That is the major thing. We need to build a new prison, as well as bring in more police officers....
I applied to get on the police force, when supposedly they were LOOKING for police officers...this was back in 2000....I had an AA degree, was in fairly decent shape as I was into sports as well as a very calm headed individual....they did not even call me back!
LOL...
Yet I saw men and women, who failed the physical and who had no higher education, something in which they were looking for, got on the force a year afterwards....
Now...could that have been a mis-step?
Maybe...but thank God I did not get on, because I would not be on a path for a better future.
:taped2:

let us all now thank whatever deity or lack of such one believes in for the fact that this man was not given access to a badge and a gun. lol

The professional security, unless they have arms, do not work and it is why police officers were needed. You forget aye!?!
:dgi:

These students carry fire arms, knives and other weapons, as well as being just as strong in personal strength, as well as in numbers, to any ol'e woman in a uniform or no old man who looks drunk.

The schools, as sad as it is to tell you (don't know why you don't get it) IS a street battle ground!
:hammer:

This is what it is ma bruddah....you can't be living in the Bahamas, if I have to tell you that. Also, all American public schools have police pressence at the gate....no joke...not just a police man, but a friggin unit.

Get with it!

This sort of behavior is commonplace and unacceptable. As a white man i cannot walk down Bay Street without at least 5 scumbags asking if i want to buy drugs. Talking about touching people, my girlfriend has long hair and people walk right up and start touching her hair, WTF is that all about. Have these people ever heard of personal space? It is disgusting and pisses her off to no end. I feel sorry for the tourist as they are bombarded by this crap. It makes us look so cheap and socially retarded. It is no wonder tourist feel as if they are only a $$ sign to Bahamians. We just do not respect ourselves enough to respect tourist I guess.
One other thing is the government should outlaw all of these little kids selling trinkets on Bay Street.

Is there such a thing as Bahamian native garments...
But it was a good comercial...the garments were neo-colonial...

see this is exactly my point. Would you prefer they wear grass skirts? We can be Bahamian and dress well.

yall think thats bad yall need to go to china, thailand and hong kong, to a lesser extent.

you can imagine 20 chinese or more swarming you at one time to sell you chairman mao hats and watches. at the great wall, tianamen square, at the theaters, at the palaces. i mean people with no legs, people with burns, no arms, i mean dirt poor chinese. i mean you cant walk nowhere without someone trying to sell you something! and if you buy from one then a swarm of them will bumrush you! no kidding!

when i was in thailand i had this particular lil girl about 6 years old followed me and begging me all over the floating market to buy a case of pencils from her. and she was crying and pulling my shirt for the longest pleading and crying for me to buy pencils although i didnt have any money left. i went on the tour bus and that lil girl stayed walking around the bus looking for me until that bus pulled off!

then in hong kong i had tailors walking alongside me harassing me to buy suits. i mean they walking down blocks begging me to buy suits. i was ready to strike one of them!
so this type of harassment happen all over the world, including the US especially san fran. so you think we harass tourist go to other places and you will see harassment.
