View Full Version : Economy is the topic one Jeff Lloyd today. Interesting...
Ting-um 06-20-07, - 12:03 PM Milton Friedman was a libertarian economist, or monetarist, who believed less government intervention was better for the economy and subsequently society. So lower taxes and less regulation. That's the gist of it.
I don't think the guest is saying anything that anyone with any familiarity with economic theory and the Bahamas, wouldn't say. But I'll listen to see if the host says something stupid like "you don't live in the Bahamas, so you don't know what you're talking about".
1bigfrog 06-20-07, - 12:04 PM I know Mr frog... hehehehe :D
*Hands out 10% off coupons on the tuck shop*
thanks...
any minute nah, this buey ga mention that rich Bahamians need to invest more into developing this country...When he says that...I want a buy one get one free coupon.
Sunnyjohn 06-20-07, - 12:04 PM I bet plenty Bahamians will call in with all the agreement in the world to what is being said...... then at 12:05pm ... all that zeal and intellect will be forgotten and very little if any will act on this.
sighs...
alas, you are right...
we scared bad.
I notice them jamaican them does pack all their georgy bundles and move to the 'north pole' with only .50c to their name and make it...Bahamians aren't that brave.
Well I plan on becoming a thorn in da side of the powers that be.
sidebar- anyone notice how they have butchered this man's name?? LOL!

He allready cut him at the knees, because he stated that he allready does not know about the political state....so, theory is out of the window.
So, he realizes that he is insufficient in his scope. Only an idiot would argue a point, which does not enter into the analysis unless he or she know's the true risk.
1bigfrog 06-20-07, - 12:07 PM But, I said it before, we don't have anything to trade, so we need to either find a "comparative advantage" or get out of the speculation game, until we "sure up the state" so that our domestic businessmen and women, can compete.
He is talking about WTO wholesale, as is now.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You know what's funny...
Tourism has been our main industry for years...
however, we have yet to actively 'export' tourism labour.
Shouldn't there be hundreds of Bahamian General Managers, hundreds of Executive Chefs to be managing our local hotels; better yet, managing other big hotel chains...
Sunnyjohn 06-20-07, - 12:07 PM Jeff say our government is too paternalistic and the people are too dependent on government.

We exported Vander-pool Wallace.....LOL...
Exported him so far, until he did not even realize that he was Bahamian until after the elections!
:voodoo:

gal, people don't like political thorns...If you criticize any government you become the enemy...even if you actually make sense. Apparently, you are either FNM or PLP...to hell with just being Bahamian, and desiring a better country.
Alien 06-20-07, - 12:09 PM *AHEM*
Does not make his account for our case right or wrong either.
:)
*cough cough*

yeah hell, I forgot about Vander-pool-Wallace...I thought we lost a good guy there...But at least we out there in the Caribbean...hopefully the rest of the Caribbean will look to the Bahamas for tourism leadership

that's a fact, and we all know good sons don't question dey ma...
Ting-um 06-20-07, - 12:12 PM Ummm. Where's the link?? I'm only hearing music.

and the minute you begin to make in-roads and actually develop a constructive programme......... ya either get rob of opportunities or ostracized as being "presumptious". Don't even mention the fact that some political party ga try latch on to ya like a leech and proclaim all ya success from your hardwork as a direct effect of their policies etc.....We really don't highlight ingenuity at all.....
Sunnyjohn 06-20-07, - 12:14 PM Hmmm.
Say we need the think tanks need to come up with NAtional plan and put it out there for the public to discuss, then place it before the government.
Hmmmmm....
Why don't we at BI come up with that plan? This is forum is a pretty good amateur "think tank!"
