did anyone else see the morons in the dump trucks blowing their horns down bay street area today! They gave me the thumbs up, i made sure i gave them all the middle fingers up untill there were none left to give it to, yes, god please forgive my sins :hammer:

Where were the police!? Ummm. I saw them inside the police station chilling out.

Looks like these guys see someone else do something like a protest, they tink they can do whatever they want and call it a protest, this time no permit, and made the Bahamas look like a bunch of morons to the tourists on Bay Street, not to mention the amount of annoying noise they made for local businesses!

Next time i accidentally peel out sidways down the street fishtailing sideways through a police block, i'll call it a protest, seems its the latest trend! :p

Well, Rory, when I noticed that you started this thread, I thought you would have been somewhat on the truckers side. [How little do I know you.......!]. And when I saw the blaring trucks passing Parliament on the ZNS news, I thought of how those 2 young politicians visited the House of Parliament and glued themselves to the mace because of some gripe they had with the FMN Government.

Maybe we should try to figure out if those guys really do have a genuine complaint before being critical of their action. Not sure either if the tourists would think so badly about it; I would think most are from big countries where protests like these would take palce on a larger scale.

I hope and pray I am wrong, but sometimes because of all the social unrest, anger, and strange attitudes that now seem to be widespread, we could well be headed for some kind of major problem [hate to use the terms, Riot or Civil War].

Just seems that nowadays, people are not prepared to exercise patience and "roll with the punches".

Hopefully, with the recent initiative of the Minister for Social services, and persons like Dr Allen (the psychologist), we would be able to get a handle on these social ills.

#1 - those trucks in their condition would not be on the road in the US.

#2 - would never get a permit to drive anywhere blowing their horns making that kind of noise.

#3 - would get arrested/booked for making that amount of noise.

There are alot more worthwhile things to protest about here, and for them to protest that they want to get paid more from a private company, in the business hub of the bahamas, is moronic and irrespectful of others. They dont give a crap about anyone else besides themselves. They should be out working instead of doing this stupidness.

Ok, lets see, I hate the prices at the food store, as they are rediculous, but im not going to protest over it, how about the fact that the roads are terrible, nope, still not going to, what about when my vehicle gets written off by a drugged/drunken driver, or drunken drivers continuously wreck my wall, or see freinds killed by drunk drivers, am i out protesting that there should be a law against drinking and driving, NO. Why, because i have to work for a living.

And that is still not the point, the point is that they used illegal and disrespectful acts to gain acknowledgement of, basically the fact that they want to 'be able to' make more than $400 a day!!!

They need to (and did so) take their protest to somone that gives a crap, like the company that they get paid from, not the public who generally doesnt need to have anything to do with their business. What they get or dont get paid is none of our business.

I have no respect for morons like that, and would not think twice if they were to fall out of those dump trucks and be dragged down the road behind them!!! - no dont want to see anyone injured, though when you are being "attacked" with that kind of noise, it drives you insane!!

Ofcourse, making noise seems to be apart of the Ghetto Bahamian culture.

Ok Rory, I see where you are coming from. There is one little thing maybe we should look at. If these persons really broke the law they should be charged! Or at least severey reprimanded. Otherwise they will continue breaking the law, thereby making a mockery of it. I think we have had enough of that in this country.

Maybe we could also try to determine why this happens so often and put checks and balances in place to stop these kinds of problems.

Charge them? Our Police have a little trouble doing that. If they were good at it they would charge most truck drivers for the condition of their vehicles Have you ever seen the average truck? I rattles down the road in the last stages of dereliction. No headlights, no tail lights, bald tires. Often without a rear licence plate - sometimes without a front one! The only "new" thing on the truck is an inspection sticker!

For those of you that have been "booked" for having one rear tail light out, may be you should buy a truck. They seem immune to these kinds of problems, or perhaps they are invisible!

When a 'protest' is staged, the most successful ones would have a message attached. Signs, chants, T-shirts, something to give a visual or audible clue as to what is being protested. The lack of a message makes it seem like these truckers just like to toot their own horns! Maybe they are excited because they love their jobs so much?
