View Full Version : Obese Bahamians
garnelleo 06-30-07, - 01:12 AM You Bahamians eat too darn much :D. Although that whole Sunday dinner idea was brilliant.
At our house its business as usual, but I went to someone's house to fix thier pc and they decided to treat me to dinner, which included fish, chicken and porkchops. Then rice, salad, beets and potato salad and banana bread for desert. I asked her if she cooked like this on Sundays and she was like "sometimes through the week too".
If I ever ate like that, I wouldnt have to worry about going to the gym to bulk up.
proudplp 06-30-07, - 01:22 AM Nah, I think the mask will come between us. I demand full exposure.

LOL .. yeah the brits have that sunday dinner thing too .. lots of food ...
the thing is though, many Bahamians eat the same thing for lunch and dinner during the week also!
gullyrock 06-30-07, - 09:12 AM I don't know if this is what happens all over the Bahamas, but in the restaurants and at cook outs here Peas n rice is not considered a side dish, it automatically comes with the meal!! No wonder there's so many peas n' rice boongy!
You wan know what does kill me? When I see these gals eating from one styrofoam container that jus' pile up with greasy food and they drinking DIET COKE!!! Now if I goin eat all that other stuff I might as well have the pleasure of drinking a REAL COKE!! What that lil coke goin do compared to that pound of potato salad and bushel of cole slaw with all that mayonnaise? And don't leave that macaroni out!
But seriously, I notice that its the under 35 generation where there seems to be so many obese Bahamians! Watch a rally or homecoming and all you see is BIG gals shaking it up all over the place. I think its a serious health issue!
Rory, boy I goin put one ad out for you...look for you one gal who like to cook!
Are you guys losing ya'll ever loving minds? The "Big Mama's Sunday Dinner" is a tradition in my family house hold. I don't really think that most of the food is the problem, it's just the intake amount that most Bahamians have a problem with. I'll be damn if you invite me to your house on a Sunday afternoon and your trying to feed me "rabbit food"! Consider that my last visit.
I will admit how ever that I do step over boundraies on weekdays. Friday gone I was carving a good sub sandwhich. I when into Sub Way and carried on like a mad man. "Give me some more meat and lettuce man" You should see the foot long at the end. Simply hoggish! But damn it was good.:)
mediaboss 06-30-07, - 10:11 AM A little too slim for my liking. I want my boongey back?
Eat lean proteins and do squats with moderate weight.

Eat peas n rice for lunch and dinner with extra fryin pan grease. In 2 months your boongy will be back.
Ting-um 06-30-07, - 12:06 PM I don't think Bahamians even come close to being compared to Americans.
All the food I ate in Nassau, was/is a whole lot healthier than the food in the US. Bahamians at least have fruits and vegetables as staples in their diet. Bahamians eat massive amounts of mangoes, guineps, tamarinds, dilly, and so on - especially when their in season. Plus, Nassau so hot you could walk twelve feet and sweat off 30 pounds right there. Plus, even though there's a lot of grease and fat in the food - Bahamians eat a considerable amount of seafood, whether conch, bonefish, or goggle-eye. Compare that to americans that eat steaks, beef and pork.
I think the average Bahamian diet is considerably healthier than American or British. In fact, in order to maintain my bodyweight, I have to workout two hours a day everyday and still eat less than I do when in the Bahamas. Plus you see Bahamians walking. Or out in their yard or on the beach. If you in Nassau and you real fat, then you eating way, way too much - even for a fat person.

You need some severe backshot attention. Then it'll grow like a beautiful, plump bubble.

That is another thing that is contributing to the fatness of Bahamian society, lack of physical activity. Most Bahamians aren't trying to walk in this heat, not even the police..lol When I worked in the East Bay area, I used to stop for lunch out Arawak Cay before. Many times I walked from Arawak Cay to Bay Street Proper. A few times I even walked from Arawak Cay to East Bay Street. I guess that is where all the pounds went. it has been one of the advantages of not owning my own vehicle yet. Trust me a walking regime can work wonders.
Alien 06-30-07, - 01:28 PM Why are there so many obese bahamians walking around? Have you ever noticed, most bahamians are either dead skinny or dead fat. What is going on?
I think we have a thread on this allready.

Sunnyjohn 06-30-07, - 01:33 PM Reserve the big 'cook up' for Sunday and special occasions. That will make is all the more special and the time with family more precious.
Stick to healthier lunch/dinner choices during the week.
Cut down on the Salt/Sodium and transfat.
Eat more seafood (NOT FRIED!)
A brisk/ vigorous 30 min exercise session 3 times a week is an excellent starting point.

I don't think she wants a fat, slack behind. Squats are king for a firm, round butt. :)
