Actually, we imported Sailing and Cricket from the same place.

The type of sloops designed, built and raced in the Bahamas now are unique. They are found nowhere in the world. That's something indigenous...

My dad did alot of gumalemi boat building in Eleuthera, and did so up to a few years ago. He has three models out on the porch that he used to go out on the beach and sail. I remember he built them to be so fast that sometimes they outrun him....sailing out into the horizon. He won all the races and we still have the floating trophies....in fact the other became so discouraged by my dad's competition that I have not heard of another race and we have the floating trophy forever!...lmao!

But yeah......Him and my mom only know:

Jay Mitchel
Smokey 007
Cooling waters - (had some records that seems to have go into oblivion)

Now they could name you all of the big US names of the 60s, 70s, and 80's

My grand parents might have helped me but I doubt it, considering they are dead...RIP

I'm shcoked that you all think that here in Nassau, Culture is eroding...but then again you have young Bahamians calling Reggea.."Culture" :what:

But if you think culture is eroding in Nassau, you might as well call Freeport Miami-Dade. :sailing:

I went there once in my life and Imust go again because sadly I was there for a funeral and was asleep most of the ride. :realmad:

But I noticed a great bay not far in the neighbourhood! And yes i saw much wetlands there! And I think my Dad still has property there! Perhaps I shall get a hold of it!

Make sure your daddy gets that deed for his property in order. Hold it close to your heart! That property is your birthright!

Eleuthera = FREE!
