Is sweethearting a Bahamian thing? Does sweethearting occur more in the Bahamas than it does in other parts of the world? Does sweethearting have detrimental affects on Bahamian society? Can the sweethearting rate be lowered in the Bahamas? Is sweethearting a male phenomenon or do females practice the craft just as much?

I know this is a tough issue but we are supposed to be able to deal with the tough issues on bahamasissues.com.

First of all, "Sweethearting" sounds like such a innocuous word. The real words we should use are adultery and fornication

"Is sweethearting a Bahamian thing?"
No but we have made it "respectable!" How many people in public life have no shame in admitting that they are an "outside child."

"Does sweethearting occur more in the Bahamas than it does in other parts of the world?"
Not really. Africa is a "hot bed" of such moral decline - that is why AIDS is so bad there.

"Does sweethearting have detrimental affects on Bahamian society?"
It is so ingrained in the society, it has become part of the society itself. It is regrettable that morally speaking, most Bahamians have the morals of an alley cat, but that is acceptable here - if not mandatory!

"Can the sweethearting rate be lowered in the Bahamas?"
Yes and no. Yes, if people wake up to it. But no, because they don't want to or they don't know it is really wrong, they think it is something good. I know a man who is one of fifteen children. Each child was by a different man. None of them married his Mother, few supported her with money. On Mother's day at her church she gets a Rose as the mother with the most children! What message does that send to the youth?

"Is sweethearting a male phenomenon or do females practice the craft just as much?"
It is a 50/50 deal.

sweethearting is expected of everyone in this society and i think that is a sad state of affairs for one to be in. the current generation is now already perfecting the art but i find it funny how both sexes find ways to cheat on one another and brag so wholeheartedly about it. people who take part in sweethearting or any kind of promiscuos sexual activity only contribute to the already rapid spread of STD's in our small communities. but what can you expect of people with little to parctically non-existent morals?

Sure..the typical Bahamian attitude is to condemn same sex relationships and condemn anything else which does not hit directly home.....but to 'sweetheart and have outside children' seems a lesser evil!

All acts of adultery will be judged the same when it's our time!

Most Bahamians are fooling themselves if they think sweethearting will be excused. Compulsive sweethearters are child abusers. Deliberately bringing children into a world without thought to two parent love and economic provision is tantamount to child abuse!

Shame on any Bahamian who has intentionally and without regard produced 'outside children'. You are beneath contempt and stand accused of child cruelty!!

Bahamians think they are something special, dont offend them in any way.. But there is no moral,,,,fornicate on Saturday and go to church on Sunday====and kill your next on Monday..... Next weekend drunk again.. But when Sunday comes yall in church There is one word for this HIPOCRITS the next would be LIARS

Think about it before you get offended by ANYTHING. Sorry i forgot to mention there is still socially accepted to commit adultery here in the Bahamas.

I am still amased when i hear stories about Pastors who actually has more kids outside of the marriage, than with his wife.
And these people are preaching the 10 commands to other ????????

PS the F word is even banned on this site, well you got no freedom of speach.. most likely because of the Christian counsil. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Well today i got a warning the admin of this site, so i have now edited my posting,, and i am sorry if i offended anyone, but it actually underlines the statement. But i have no problems editing my posting, i will have no problems putting my thoughts in other words,

So i will only repeat think twice before you get offended of ANYTHING

you are so upset over the so called lack of freedom of speech when you seem to be unable to articulate a proper sentance. why even take part in a discussion when all you can do to get your point across is blurt expletives?

p.s. the christian council has what exactly to do with this site?

But that aside, since you obvious are a muslim, you should fight for the right of freedom to speak.
Question: Have you ewer really visited a muslim nation Sir ? it might change your religion to something else than what you believe in at the moment.
