View Full Version : 4 Year old Girl calls 911 nearly 300 times! Keep dem chirren of da phone!
Sunnyjohn 07-06-07, - 04:51 PM CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. - Authorities tracked down a 4-year-old girl who called 911 nearly 300 times last month by offering to deliver McDonald's to her suburban Chicago apartment.
Unbeknownst to her mother, the girl used a deactivated cell phone to call dispatchers 287 times in June — sometimes as often as 20 times a shift.
Dispatchers heard the child's voice but could only track the phone's signal to the apartment complex.
So authorities used a ruse to pinpoint her.
"We asked (the caller) what she wanted. She said she wanted McDonald's," said Steve Cordes, executive director of QuadCom's emergency center, which covers Carpentersville.
"We talked with her and we convinced her if she told us where she lives, we would bring her McDonald's," he said. "She finally gave us her address. So we sent the police over — with no McDonald's."
After police arrived, the girl's mother took away the phone, Cordes said.
Under federal law, deactivated cell phones still must be able to access 911. Many deactivated phones will contact an emergency call center if the user holds down the nine key.

no more macdonalds for 3 years .. :hammer:
BahamaWave 07-06-07, - 08:16 PM thing is, a while back a 3 or 4 year old boy called the police 919 number and told them his mother was choking and dying. the operator told the child to stop playing on the phone and hung-up.
half an hour later the child called back and said his mother was now dead. the operator still didn't believe him but sent a sqaud car over to put an end to the 'foolishness'. they then discovered that the child was not lying or playing on the phone and that his mother had indeed died.

androsann 07-07-07, - 10:02 AM Reminds me of a time when my eldest was about 3 and we got a phone bill for over $400. When I checked the bill there was one call on it to Australia!. Now we don't know anyone there and had certainly never made any calls there, especially one that totaled over $300!. BATELCO checked and said the call had definitely been made form our phone.
When we questioned said offspring we found out that she had been playing with the phone, dialling random numbers and had a nice conversation with someone who she said talked funny! We then called the same number and the nice folks on the other end remembered the call and said that they had talked to her and what a nice, polite child she was. Nice child! She got one big cut a** for that. I can tell you!
