Might be sooner than you think.
It would be wonderful to put a face to the name, Delroy. I look forward to it.

Vicky 05-19-04, - 12:44 PM It is often useless to argue back and forth. I think the most important thing is to live the life. I would rather see a sermon than to hear one any day. Love is the principle thing. What we need to do more of is to love one another. Love is the fundamental thing. We need more love in our hearts and we need to demonstrate this to each other no matter what labels are worn. Once we have more love there would be no need for such utterings. That is my basic philosophy. You should be a Rainbow Alliance member. It’s for straight people to. It’s for all who believe in equal rights. Not just about gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexuals as the media and Christian leaders say it is. (We might be focused on GLBT right now because it is needed now. )They want to sell newspapers and have people tune in. They work on peoples fear. They must remember Christianity was once a cult as well. Vicky 05-19-04, - 12:46 PM It would be wonderful to put a face to the name, Delroy. I look forward to it. And what would that achieve? It is obvious by now Vicky that me and you both are two convinced persons. Only God can change your mind and I hope that He does one day. No I am hoping the Creator will show you the light and change your mind. You ask what would it achieve? It would prove you have the knowledge to back up what you believe. You see I have posted questions to you that you ignore because you can't answer them with out questioning your faith. Points made directly from the Bible. I might add That CG has posted questions you ignore as well. CG 05-20-04, - 04:16 PM No I am hoping the Creator will show you the light and change your mind. You ask what would it achieve? Points made directly from the Bible. I might add That CG has posted questions you ignore as well. Some folks find it hard to defend their Holy Books because they see them as facts and not as they really are - a mixture of fact, symbol and metaphor and they can't tell which is which. By the way, this is not peculiar to the Christian faith alone. Reading a symbol as fact can lead to misunderstandings. At one time the Church taught that the world was flat and excommunicated, or worse, those that said other wise. Why? Because the Bible said it was flat! But did it? Revelation 20.8 "...and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth...." Reading this as fact, we must say that round things can't have corners! Only square things, or rectangle things have four corners. Therefore, the world is flat! That was very clear to the people of the day. It made sense! However! As the understanding of the nature of the world changed, people began to see that the world was not flat, it was round! The church fought that for a while but soon realized they were wrong too. We now see that as a symbol, it means no part of the earth will be untouched. As we read the above Bible passage today, it never crosses our minds to think pre 1492 C.E. The world is round - end of story! But the Bible was not wrong, it was just that people did not know how to read (let alone explain) symbol and metaphor, many still don't. Parts of the Bible are likely to be facts, some symbol, some metaphor. Perhaps when the Church realizes this they can come together to bring a greater understanding to the Bible instead of just defending their "facts" and damning other's "facts" as cultism. islandgyal 05-20-04, - 07:49 PM We have plenty of practicing Buddhist Bahamians on Harbour Island and Eleuthera, and have for years. I have noticed that they don't tend to call as much attention to their faith as some of the more Christian churchgoers do. CG 05-21-04, - 08:56 AM We have plenty of practicing Buddhist Bahamians on Harbour Island and Eleuthera, and have for years. I have noticed that they don't tend to call as much attention to their faith as some of the more Christian churchgoers do. That is good to know. I know one there at least (Eleuthera) Buddhism tends to be an introspective faith, It does not need to yell about itself. (I am the only big mouth Buddhist I know!) :o Vicky 05-21-04, - 11:40 AM Hey Delroy where are you cat got your keyboard. All I want you to do is to prove what you say you believe. (Especially your opposition to homosexuality and transgender). Delroy 05-21-04, - 04:29 PM No Vicky, I am a very busy person and I just stopped home for a sec to check my email. I have been thinking about you all day however and I wanted to apologize for my attitude towards you recently. Although provoked sometimes I should have been stronger not to allow words to get the best of me. It is not my nature and it is not the nature of the God I serve. I didn't answer some of your questions mainly because of the long debate that would result as it always does. I will however; because of fairness, dedicate some time tonight to the questions that you and CG presented to me. Again I apologize for being rude towards you. I do love you and I am proud to have you as a member of my site. God Bless. Iupdate 05-21-04, - 05:00 PM Annaassau you have a very beautiful point of peace. I have reviewed many religions during the pass 10 years including the religion of Islam, Christianity and Buddhism, so far I see all saying the same thing from different angles there is absolutely no problem with the text of any of these book or religions. As always the problem I see is always MANS GREED more than his creed, and his negative thinking and desire for dominance, distraction, attention and self importance. It is this problem that plagues our world greater than any idea of cult. Many religions including Buddhism has defined its understanding in a more simple word format and is hardly in need of a teacher to define the text. However Christianity does not have this “luxury”. The bible is a book of codes coded perhaps for the very purpose of dependency. The Christian Holy Bible however does require a teacher or scholar of some kind to make sense out of it, and then again, this form of dependency has proven to be mostly misleading and troublesome. What has come out of scholastic dependency so far has done not much more than to add to the already hundreds of Christian denominations. Then again almost all of these denominations exist out of dissatisfactory arguments, unanswered and avoided question a challenge yet to be trashed out by the council of Christianity. For example take the argument of Vicky and Delroy this argument is in need of serious debate, yet, what will it be? Nevertheless Christianity and every denomination of Christianity are beautiful philosophies as fine as any, and I fail to see the problem as a cult denomination problem but rather as always, mans determination for dominance. The argument of cult poses many questions it does not have anything much to do with who is good or who is bad, what religion is right which is wrong, which is better, which is worst, conventional, cultural, traditional, universal or personal. From the point of view of the archdeacon’s argument this point itself is but a matter of position the prestige that all like to feel apart of. And it is always the same it is only the mans attitude of superiority the most imperial of them all that have a problem with everything that seems to be lesser, smaller or newer. Most people go where they LIKE, and if they like it it is right. So, then they stay there until they are either offended by it or until they find something that give them more of what they LIKE. It is this that makes religion or denomination of choice right and any one who is not apart of the same must be crazy and is regarded to be apart of what is wrong. This is what is cult? All organizations are religion and religion is politics and politic is business and any organization that does not fellowship itself in associated ways or limit itself to popular demand (or should I say commands) is subject to the scrutiny of negative PR and the intent of this cult argument is intended to be what else but negative. Now it does not matter if you are a cult or not the competition is on and if you want to survive or secure you position then you better defend it with the best PR, the SDA and the BCC is already at it. This question of cult is no new issue; it has been around before and will continue to be until we humans define it positively. God from the Christian point of view as they know to be “he” remains silent, so waiting for God… "for the final answer” is a waist of time, we are here to know how to live together as one peacefully. Religion is one such game that humans play it is only one of many games that we play, and the most important of all is HOW, how we play in these human games. The question of cult is but a minor challenge presented for us to respond to it there is nothing worrisome at all about cult, unless you are building a “personal” religious empire and something challenges the progress of it. Until we realize that religion is not only a vocal understanding a belief or a “whip”, but rather a thing of action here to direct the human, to align the human thinking with action, his right action, correct action, proper action and in this way the human experience the desire of heart as desired ( in other words without the covering of his neighbors house). So, then let’s just take the philosophies, let’s take the religions (or use of the secret books), let’s take the denominations of Christianity and do the good that come from it. So, then let’s just take the philosophies, let’s take the religions (or use of the secret books), let’s take the denominations of Christianity and do the good that come from it. Actually, Christianity should be one of the most simple religions to understand and to follow. It has but one commandment that came from the lips of its founder. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Yet, it has become a difficult, for some, to follow due to the things you mentioned in your posting. Vicky 05-22-04, - 01:36 PM No Vicky, I am a very busy person and I just stopped home for a sec to check my email. There is little that can hurt me in the way of words and feelings. But when I am hurt with words and feeling the pain is deep. I believe every one of us has the right to our own faith, lives and happiness. I don’t believe that any person faith should be used as rules/laws on people that don’t share that faith. The laws of the people should be equal to all people. Equal Human Rights. When some one tries to tell others how to live because of what they personally or majority believe I question it. If in my eyes it appears to be wrong I question it again and again. If the person can make sense of what they believe then I am comfortable with it. I question to learn first and for most. I question to make people think about what they say and believe. With both sides giving honest answers an understanding can be reached. Hope I said this right. Frist question Is the Bible fact or faith???? Vicky 05-22-04, - 01:50 PM Actually, Christianity should be one of the most simple religions to understand and to follow. CG you hit the nail on the head. Christanity is so simply a religion it is unreal. Christ also taught. Matthew 22 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I live by this. Delroy 05-22-04, - 02:52 PM Frist question Is the Bible fact or faith???? It is both but only to those who believe and follow it. |
