It seems that Anglican, Archdeacon Etienne Bowleg, and other established Christian Churches are worried about the cults. It seems they are worried that they are "stealing" their members.

The Punch, I think - in is not very clear who said it - names Jehovah Witness, Mormons, 7th Day Adventists, Christian & Muslim fundamentalist, Rastafarians and Santeria as some of these cults.(They never mentioned Buddhists?!?!) Then it goes on to say that established Churches have better trained pastors and are more accountable, money wise than "unestablished grassroots churches of the Baptists, Jumpers and other spin-off faiths"

Does anyone belong to any of these faiths? What do you think?

Ok Delroy prove the Bible is fact because to me the Bible it is faith. Oh lets clear it up a bit the Bible being the only written word of the Creator. (Which I do not believe. I believe the Creator manifested its self many times and many ways to many people and it was written about by these people.)

I can't prove to you that the Bible is fact because you are not open to recieve it. Only God knows when you will be.

Here is an answer that will not satisfy anyone but here it is.

Religions do not deal in facts as we know them, hence, their Holy Books don't (for the most part.) They deal in a truth that speaks to the soul, not the intellect. A fact, or truth, that speaks to the intellect bypasses the soul and sticks only in the mind and becomes "concrete," never changing with the ebb and flow of mankind in general or the worshiper in particular. Jesus did not have much time for facts. He spoke in (Parables) metaphors, and allegories as did the Buddha. As he spoke, he puzzled his followers as they were looking for the facts of how to rid the land of the Romans - he offered more! Many could not see that more!

Religion is for the soul, not the mind. It is not an intellectual pursuit but a spiritual one and is therefore beyond the realm of facts, and does not need them. Those religions that must have the facts are doomed because facts change as knowledge increases. When the facts can no longer be supported by the evidence, the religion collapses.

Christianity sprang for a very fact-based religion, Judaism. Buddhism sprang from another fact-based religion, Hinduism. Both of these religions were designed by their founders to move out of, or transcend, the mundane world of fact, and to touch the soul of mankind. They did! In Buddhism we say that no two souls (beings) are touched (enlightened) in the same way. It is plausible that the same holds true for the Christian.

I can't prove to you that the Bible is fact because you are not open to recieve it. Only God knows when you will be.

Ok Delroy so you are saying you look at a cloud and see a rabbit I look at the same cloud and see a cat. But according to you my interpretation is wrong and yours is right. End result the Bible is faith not fact because you only believe it to be fact. There is not a single reference that can be proven to be the word of the Creator.

I used to be a Seventh Day Adventist, my wife wanted to be a Mormon, people used to think I was a Rasta and my grandfather practiced Santeria and Voudon.
And yes, I agree they are mind-control cults. All and any religion teaches you to bring your mind into subjection and govern yourself according to doctrine, dogma and/or practice. Whether they are evil depends on your point of view and/or what you do with your religion as far as personal conviction and social license is concerned.

I can personally attest to the evil of Seventh Day Adventism when it doesn't adhere to the principles of God, just as I can personally attest to the evil of Roman Catholicism when it doesn't adhere to the principles of God. The Amida Tong (a Buddhist sect of assassins) do not adhere to the principles of their respective deity, and are therefore evil in my opinion.
The same can be said of Anglicanism or any religion for that matter.
And yet, I also disagree...He/She that is without sin...

the definition of cult and the church in general is a tricky one....
but i feel if any harm or subjection of the human spirrit be in violation then we have to say something!

Are you talking about returning to Africa spiritually, or physically?
