View Full Version : Homosexual Marriages
a-Dorsett-n-DC 07-04-05, - 11:11 AM Response to Delroy and other Homophobes (people that fear and/or hate gays)
I have seen and heard these expressions before. I don’t want to give the impression that people can’t legitimately disagree on different subjects. People should be able to have their own opinions without being unfairly insulted. However……being Gay is not a choice, and that is scientific fact. You cannot choose to be gay, you cannot choose to be black, you can only choose how you live with the cards life and god has dealt you. As a gay black man I choose to live my life honestly and with integrity. I hope Delroy is cognizant of the actions in his own life. He talks about gods children who like me live our lives with moral integrity as if we are weapons or tools of the devil. Maybe Delroy should look in the mirror. Contempt, hate, divisiveness, and fear are the tools of Satan I see most often used….and your messages are riddled with them. While you’re looking in the mirror I suggest you look one step deeper into yourself. My guess is the fear and contempt you express come from some deeper issues. Like I said I have seen the words and expressions you used before…….they used to be my words.

I don't fear or hate gays. If I did this would not be an open forum for you to accuse me of these things. I only hate wicked people.
I look in the mirror almost everyday and I don't see a perfect person but me not being perfect has nothing to do with what's right and wrong in the eyes of God. I teach by the belief that I have subscribed to and what I know to be the truth. Whatever you believe in and what you know to be the truth will determine your end (if you believe in an end). You are free to believe what you want.
Whatever concerns God concerns me and this is my only real issue.
I am glad to hear that you have overcome your fear and contempt.
Teniel 07-04-05, - 12:08 PM Why do people accuse one of being homophobic when they take an opposite stance on homosexuality, particulalry where the issue of marriage is concerned. Once an individuals cooments are not insulting or demeaning to another person, then I feel we all should agree to disagree.
Alien 07-04-05, - 02:32 PM who cares about this topic..i mean sissys are with us yes, but this stupid out of the mainstrema issue does not deserve the second thought!!!
not to be cruel, but sissys arent the manistream in the bahamas....and their issues are moot!!
Ting-um 07-04-05, - 03:20 PM To Vicky:
Murder and rape have been around as long as man has been around. Should those be okay??
Also..
If a man crossdresses as a woman, he is asking to be treated in a manner that defies natural law. At the heart of crossdressing is deception. If crossdressers are asking not to be judged on their appearance then they should not use their appearance as a means to an end. In other words, they should not appear as a woman to be treated as a woman. Womanhood is more than just an appearance. It is defined by more than one person. Our entire society is defined by more than one person. Under God we are all equal. Under secularism/science/objectivism we are all one. Which is why utilitarianism is better than individualism.
a-Dorsett-n-DC 07-04-05, - 04:45 PM Vicky,
As i already knew. Civil and Human rights have got a long way to go in the Bahamas. Only education, action and time will solve the deep rooted ignorance (and by ignorance i do not mean stupidity....i use ignorance in the manner as one not being aware of the wrong/incorrect assumptions in their expressions or statements)....expressed and prevalent (at least as i have seen on this forum by Bahamians). I am a Bahamian, and personally know many gay bahamians....they are your brothers, your sisters, your aunts, your neighbors and your children......they are as god has made them.......it is up to each of you individually as to the life, the prejudice they will face or do face in the Society in which they live. My god would have me treat others as i would have them treat me. (Being gay has nothing to do with crossdressing, rape or murder....to those who dont understand that.... this conversation is beyond you. To those that do understand the difference (Delroy) play careful attention to the company you keep in your beliefs.....in my humble opinion ...the homophobia and hateful statements stated on this thread is not company for one who says "Whatever concerns God concerns me" I will end on a positive note.....your allowance of this forum and the freedom of expresssion herein is without a doubt the first step. People of sound mind can disagree. But do note the company you keep and the history your beliefs are rooted in (the bible can be used as weapon....as was against black americans and native americans and slavery.....make sure you dont use yours as such, make sure your beliefs you so deeply believe in are the same ones your god would have you learn)

:screw:
This is an interesting response, but sadly it is not surprising at all to get this kind of response from a Bahamian. Since you are in England, I would assume you went there to be educated, so I am surprised to get this kind of response from an educated person.
You state that homosexuality is not part of the "mainstream". By this I assume that you mean it is not part of the majority, because it has been beaten to death here and many stats and studies have been mentioned to prove that it is indeed natural.
Your argument here seems very familiar to me somehow. I seem to remember in my history class when slavery existed, the rationale for its continued existence was because society perceived the black man to be a subhuman, therefore "their issues were moot". At the time the black man's race and culture was seen as inferior and thus "their issues were moot". As the old expression goes, "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it" and it seems very true in your case.
Delroy 07-04-05, - 05:38 PM Vicky,
As i already knew. Civil and Human rights have got a long way to go in the Bahamas.
I guess America has a long way to go also. They openly told the world that they are not for homosexuality in the last election.

Actually I believe that people (especially Bahamians) are more educated on homosexuality than they are on most subjects. I believe it would be ignorance to ignore what we believe and allow the world to direct our paths and not God.
I am a Bahamian, and personally know many gay bahamians....they are your brothers, your sisters, your aunts, your neighbors and your children......they are as god has made them.......
We were all born in sin an iniquity Dorsett. The only perfect person God made was Adam and after he sinned we all sinned. So if someone was born Gay or in any other way that was not God's original plan.. Don't blame God. God created a perfect man and man gave birth to a sinful child. The sins of the parents fall upon the children.
To those that do understand the difference (Delroy) play careful attention to the company you keep in your beliefs..... in my humble opinion ...the homophobia and hateful statements stated on this thread is not company for one who says "Whatever concerns God concerns me"
If you knew me you would know that I don't agree with everyone on this site (Christian or not). I have a few people that I really consider friends and they believe what I believe.
I will end on a positive note.....your allowance of this forum and the freedom of expresssion herein is without a doubt the first step. People of sound mind can disagree. There is no where in the Bible that says that it was a sin to be black. Thank you for your comments.

People can legitimately disagree on the issue of homosexuality. I don't know why Delroy is being attacked specifically since I didn't read anything he stated that seemed homophobic at all. He has indicated in the past I believe that he does not agree or support it, and that is valid. It is when you have persons out there bashing gays, verbally or physically, to overcome his or her own personal issues that it becomes homophobic.
I think we can agree that a statement of, "You are black so I will deny you this item." or "Black people are not the majority so we don't have to address your issues." is racist. Likewise, a statement of, "You are gay so I will deny you this item." or "Gay people are not the majority so we don't have to address your issues." is homophobic. Basically, I would say a person is classed as homophobic if the issue is being attacked solely on the basis of sexual preference.
finekameo 07-04-05, - 05:47 PM I guess America has a long way to go also. They openly told the world that they are not for homosexuality in the last election.
Let us be clear on one thing, the results of the last election in no way indicated that the United States of America as a nation is against homosexuality.
Rizzo 07-04-05, - 05:56 PM It baffles me how people can compare racism against black people, to discrimination against homosexuals.
There is no comparison at all, and anyone who thinks there is, does not know how much of an insult that is to black people.
bahmaboy 07-04-05, - 06:31 PM Well, since Vicky isn't really homosexual then God should have no problem with her. Right???
some extreme christians might not think so. i personaly dont thinks God would.
note: i am not trying to speak for God, i am just specualting.

Delroy, did you mean you hate wickedness or wicked actions.

You don't have to speculate bahmaboy just pick up a Bible and you would know for sure. "By their fruits you would know them". I person don't have to be something for God to judge them. They only have to ether support it, promote it or simply ignore it and they will face the same penalty as the perpetrator.
a-Dorsett-n-DC 07-04-05, - 06:42 PM America has a long way to go on many issues, but not as nearly far to go on homophobia as does the Bahamas. Whatever your interpretation of the last election a gay American can walk hand in hand down the streets of my city without fear of retribution (or go to a club, shopping or out to eat) I know such freedoms do not exist in the Bahamas. If people in the Bahamas would pay closer attention to the real problems that confront them (also true for America but to a far less degree) ....maybe poverty, unemployment, drugs and the many other numerous issues that really plague our islands would get the attention they really deserve. I would never use America or Bush as a moral foundation for deciding what is right for the Bahamas. In America gay fear and the politics therein were used as tools to split the black vote and elect an oppressor. It was used as a method of diversion. It worked, and it’s easy to see how.
