I am sure you have seen booths on the side of the road with people selling shirts, hats, umbrellas etc. all with the colours of the flag and in some cases the flag itself.
Do you think that is OK or does it "cheapen" the flag? :bahamas:

Well on the one hand you have to buy your flags them somewhere right? I don't see nothing wrong with selling items that have the colors of the flag in/on them but I do have a problem with using a flag itself to make an item of clothing.
Also I believe the 'rules' that govern flag use should be enforced, so if you follow the rules that the sun should neither rise or set on the flag and that it should not get wet in the rain, then you should be very vigilant when placing a flag on your car or fence etc....

i don't think the paraphernalia cheapens the flag, per se. i look at it as more or less, a weak (but almost necessary) attempt to muster national pride.
but, in this day & age, being a Bahamian has taken the back burner to other issues (i.e., being black, white, rich, poor, smart, dumb, PLP, FNM, BDM, etc).
i think we have "cheapened" the whole idea of being a Bahamian. what was once an all encompassing term....a national umbrella, so to speak.....is now just another word that loses its meaning with each passing day.

I see your point about the colours of the flag in clothes. As an aside, I met a lady the other day at a party. Her dress was the colours of the flag minus the black. I asked her where was the black? She spread her arms wide and said, "See me here?" We had a good laugh! Lol. lol. :)
