well what is your answer to helping the situation..besides from making vicky the all mighty ruler???
if a tree falls in the forrest and you donthear it...go in the woods tommorrow and you will see the tree has fallen.
just becasue it doesnt happen exactly to you..doesnt make it not happen.
thats why we have people like me..who see the world as full of people with human feelings and emotions, and have compassion for all who live in it!
how dare you say something so evil and cold hearted about human life..."if a tree falls"....evil evil evil!!!!
to guess that we should butcher human beings for the sake of we dont know is animalistic!
shoot first and ask questions later huh vicky??
The, "If a tree falls in the forest..." thing comes from the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism.(I am Soto school myself.) It is known as a koan. A koan is a puzzle that can't be answered by the intellect. I don't know what Vicky was driving at by quoting it, but I question you calling it evil, if that is what you were doing, it is often hard to tell. You are a koan yourself sometimes! Are you sure you are not Rinzai? ;) (No offence. Rinzai is a good school.)
You say, "People like me.... who have compassion for all." I cannot doubt you on that but compassion is real compassion only when it is offered to those who are not like ones self, or hold different views, or beliefs. Think again- compassion? Maybe you mean another word? :o

7. Every culture in every civilization has developed some form of religion.
8. Religion is the result of a deep inherent desire in the recesses of the spirit of mankind to reach out and find spiritual fulfillment.
9. Where did this natural desire and need to ask a higher power to find meaning and significance in life originate?
10. All religion seeks to provide man with power to control the known and the unknown.
We all know that Buddhism preceded the three major world religions by thousands of years, but I am hoping that you can help me with this question: Did or did not Christianity and Islam evolve at the same time, courtesy of Abraham's sons Ishmael and Israel?
A Christian girlfriend and I are debating this, as she does not believe that Judaism, Christianity and Islam share the same God. I was under the impression that Christianity and Islam evolved from the same Hebrew branch.
Can you assist?

Welcome to Bahamas Issues!
Religion is the structure in which the Kingdom is learned and practiced. Religion is used to bring people to that Kingdom. When one goes to church he is partaking in a Religious practice that should open him up to that kingdom.
So, to say one is looking for understanding of the Kingdom outside religion is like trying to look for fish without looking for water - one is inside the other. If you have received any glimmer of the Kingdom it is because you are in a religion.
However, once the Kingdom is found and understood, you don't need the Religion anymore. Let us suppose you wanted to go to Rose Island. You found a small boat and you row over there. In gratitude for the boat getting you there you pick it up and carry it around with you for the rest of you life. That would be silly. But we hold onto our religions like that! Perhaps it is because the religion has not taken us to the real Kingdom in the first place! The problem is that the Semitic Religions don't want you to find this Kingdom. They want to keep one dependant and filling the Pews and collection plates. .
When you find a person who is deeply into his Holy Books, who follows, and demands others follow the "laws," who is ready to kill, or die for his beliefs, then you can be sure that this is a person who has not found the Kingdom. I would venture to say that 80% of those who practice the Semitic religions have not found the Kingdom, and never will.
Yet, when you find a person who reads his Holy Books with joy, who looks on them as "old friends." Who sees the laws as pertaining to himself and himself alone and does not inflict them on others. Who goes to Church, not because he has to, but because he wants to. When this person has love and compassion for those unlike himself. Then you can say that this person has seen the Kingdom. Which Jesus said was within a person, not without.
Yes, religion is a problem but only because we don't understand is function. (And we get very little help in trying to understand it.)

Speaking of Religion...
Are any of you guys aware of the Rev. Shung mhung moon or somethin like that...
That on March 23, 2004 he was crowned the messiah and return lord in Washington DC by some politicians...
What with that...
He actual believe and so do many others that he is Jesus, returned...
Something is really wrong with religion... it is destructive...
It was the religious who crucified Jesus back it the day...
And the religious who killed many in Jesus name, but some of you might not agree, but Christianity is not a religion...
what is it??
I glad you asked...
Christianity is a way of life!
Like Paul (Saul) when you have a real encounter with Jesus, the Christ...your life is changed for better for ever. This does not means immediate perfection but an immediate change of the heart. Things that would not have matter would matter, like sinning...words, place, activities...they would all matter, because the encounter would open your eyes to the Father's love and purity.
It is a love that can not be compared to or copied. That is why once one has encounted Jesus, nothing that is said or done can change the way he/she is and the individual with never denounce or deny that Jesus is Lord.
Jesus Is Lord!

I have not heard of the matter you mention but things like that have happened before.
As for him being Jesus, reincarnated, I doubt that. I think they are using that name because it is a name that Westerners know and understand. They know he was the Son of God. In Eastern Philosophy we are all Sons of God, but we don't know it. Had Jesus stood up in the Far East and said he was the Son of God, people would have said. "So? We all are! However, we applaud your coming to an understanding of it."
In the West, we are not Sons of God, as Jesus was. We become the children of God through adoption. There is sin that cuts us off from God. There has to be a payment (Jesus death on the Cross) to restore our fellowship with God. But even then we are sons by adoption, not true sons by birth, as Easterns believe.
It was the religious who crucified Jesus back it the day...
No, it was politics.
And the religious who killed many in Jesus name, but some of you might not agree, but Christianity is not a religion...
Yes it is!

Christianity is a way of life!...
It is a religion that leads to a way of life as all religions do - when used in a correct manner.

Jesus Is Lord!
An encounter with the teachings of Jesus, or Buddha, or whoever can change a life just as you describe so well. But all of them are "fingers pointing to the Moon." There are not the "Moon" itself. (not Dr. Moon.) Their lives direct our attention to the real thing - the transcended God, and their teaching open us up the true nature of God that lives within us. Once we know this we are all Sons of God, just as Jesus was - not by adoption but by our nature.

brickceo 10-26-08, - 09:43 PM OK, now that everyone has had a chance to vent, I have a few questions.
Adam and Eve were created, what was the proposed (by GOD) doctrine/religion mandated by GOD at that time? and why did God wait so long to give us Jesus?
