This is not a crime wave. A murder spree sure, crime wave no. The regular crime stats are normal..only people murdering plenty this year. Ga be like 2000. That was a record year for murders too.

Actually, just today there is an article in the newspaper with Tommy's views of the crime situation. Also, there was a slew of ministers and even lawyers discussing what they feel should be done. Everyone agrees something has to be done whether start hanging or start 9pm curfew.

Was the 70 or so murders in 2000 or around then the most we ever had in one year in history?

"Killings Concern Leaders." Do you think it concerns them enough to actually do something about it?:)

You are all here complaining and suggesting temporary solutions..

Well this is what I have to say about this....

We can get as much police on the streets as we want and that will still not stop these young men from comitting crimes....These young men need a mind change and most of them are too far gone so crime will continue because they have no fear of authority of any kind!!!

This was where the Urban Renewal Programme (URP) came into the mix....
I think that PC was much too far ahead of the people especially the people in our new govt!!

I hear many persons say that the URP has had no effect on the crime situation in this country and guess what, I agree!!!
That's because the URP was not dealing with these young people that are now comitting the crimes. It was dealing with the real young people helping them to get a change of mind...just look at the URP and notice the ages of the persons that were in the programme and you would understand just what I am saying!!!

The police element in the programme, to me, was the most important part and this govt having removed them have destroyed the backbone of the programme and it will become another government funded useless programme!!!

Therefore crime will continue to escalate unless the URP is returned or a pragramme similar to it and if so the reduction of crime will be a sure thing in about five to 10 years...

It is well noted that persons after reaching the ages of 35-40 tend to settle down and move on to better things.. By that time those young persons from the URP would have been between the ages of 20-35 and crime would have definitely decreased!!

As long as we think that there can be a quick fix to the crime problem we will continue to see the increase in criminal acts...

There is little we can do now but let them killup each other and lockup the ones that are caught....

But without a proper programme in place there will be no end to this killing spree and you or I could be next!!!!

These young men just don't care!!!
