View Full Version : Does anyone else have a problem getting access to BI?
androsann 07-20-07, - 03:16 PM It seems like BTC dsl sometimes blocks access to BI and jones sites on occasions. Most of the time I have no problem I can click on my shortcut links and go straight to the page, but sometimes, today being one of them, when I do that the page will not load, the only way I can get here is by using proxy.org
Anyone else have this problem? and is there anything we can do to stop it?

From what I know persons on DSL have probs accessing different websites, COB, Hi5 for example.
sean_marque 07-20-07, - 04:34 PM Well I'm on DSL and I'm reading this right now. I've never had a problem accessing BI since I found out about it and I only access it when I'm at home.
No Problems here! :sailing:

We haven't been able to access Hi5 for months unless going through a proxy. But have never had a problem with COB. It's just strange that sometimes it's OK and other times it doesn't work.
Now by the way I am able to access BI directly, but still can't get to Jonesbahamas.

I don't think your problem is DSL. I just pulled up Jonesbahamas.com and I'm looking at the headlines "Coalition On Crime". Browsing is fine. COB doesn't have DSL they're on CoralWave. They run a proxy server that I know gives them crazy issues.
If you're at a work place and having issues accessing a certain site, you need to find out from the Administrator of that Network if they're actively blocking certain sites.

No I am at home, and have set up my firewall etc. myself and know that that isn't the problem. As i say it just happens intermittently. (I still can't access jones without going through a proxy though)
I wonder if using dsl from an island rather than Nassau makes a difference though.

Since you set up your Firewall I'll assume you're a lil techy...
Check your DNS Servers. DSL public server is 206.48.0.10. I would set that static on your ethernet/wireless adapter and see what happens. You can also put 172.16.9.101 as the alternate.

Conversely they can try accessing hi5 via host IP http://204.13.51.244.
Although I had some persons try that and it still doenst work. I also had em try statically assigning them other DNS servers like CWs that I know can resolve those names fine.
So that tells me that it wasnt necessarily a name resolution issue (at least in thier cases). But I guess the OP can still try it.

LOL at a lil techy (I teach computer studies for COB and BTVI part-time)
These settings are what I have and have had since I got dsl. I just can't figure out what blocks access to these couple of sites and it's frustrating me.

I tried that link Garnelleo but it doesn't work for me either

Yea, like i say, I am not sure if name resolution is the prob.
If you cant get that them its not a DNS issue.
See if you can ping this 204.13.51.244. If you cant ping that then, that tells you that packet aren't even reaching the website.
garnelleo 07-20-07, - 05:41 PM I'll also add this, if you cant ping the address, then you can run a trace route on it and see where the packets are timing out. Although I really dont think its anything on your end as other persons complain of the same issue.

Run nslookup on the domain name and also do a trace route to the ip address and see where it's falling off. That would give you an idea of where the problem is.

No I can't ping that
I guess I'm just going to have to go through a proxy when this happens again.
I was just curious as to if other people had the same problem though.

I had the same problem with BTC.. so I switched to cablel bahams.. the service is superior.. the price is not oo bad.. $13.00 for three months... and I guess I will have to remember to call so that I can get the real price...
I told BTC why I am switching.. and they told me that when their system improves, they will call me.. even so.. BTC deVibe works better with Cable..
