Condé Nast Traveler magazine recently revealed its Top 30 Island Beaches – of the world – on the NBC TODAY show.
The top three of the list's best island beaches are located on Lizard Island, Australia, Zakynthos Island in the Greek Isles and the famous Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island...known for its soft, pink coral sands and remote tranquility.
The Condé Nast magazine's July issue print feature, the Ultimate Island Beach Finder, was made into a television segment and aired on the TODAY show.
TODAY's Natalie Morales claimed The Bahamas as one of her favorite places to visit. Magazine editor Dana Dickey described the Pink Sands Beach as "laid back, yet still absolutely beautiful."
For years, visitors have proclaimed that Pink Sands is unlike any other beach in the world, and this time Condé Nast Traveler and NBC TODAY have paired up to ensure that the world knows it. A magazine with almost 800,000 readers and a TV show with more than five million viewers are just the vehicles necessary to get the word out about the supreme beauty of the Islands of The Bahamas.

You should. Harbour Island is lovely. All of Eleuthera is.
You should have seen Harbour Island years ago before all the construction, but it is still lovely.
diarra 07-24-07, - 10:55 AM You think one of the reasons it's still able to be considered one of the best beaches is the fact that it's, for the most part, restricted natives (Bahamians) from using it! My family is from there and I just went to Briland a few weeks ago and at almost every entry point to the beach there are clearly posted signs that the beach is restricted for the use of hotel guests only. In fact, the parking available for golf carts on the nearest roads, particularly in front of Pink Sands and stuff is signed, "Parking for Guests only." Of course I didn't pay any attention to this and I went on the beach... but there was no other Bahamian on that beach indeed. It was very few ppl there and mostly Europeans. I did get asked by my cousins who work at the hotel what I was doing on the beach. So........... what are we or should we really be proud that a beach that is privately cleaned to ensure its pristine nature is regarded as one of the best in the world?
Compare that rating to any other beach that is more publicly used.... So what should I be proud of cause it doesn't say much for our ability to maintain what God or the elements have created.
Seagod 07-24-07, - 12:13 PM Pink Sands beach is okay, it's pretty but can have strong tides. I feel it's a bit overrated. It's rare, beautiful and maybe that's why they picked it. It is certainly not exclusive.
I have visited beaches on most Bahamian islands except for freeport, Acklins, Rum cay. Here is my personal list of best beaches in no particular order. In my humble opinion each is better than Pink Sands and some have gotten critical acclaim in other publications.
Treasure Cay beach in Abaco is beautiful, friendly and makes for a great swim.
Cabbage Beach gets a nod because it is easy to get to, meaning if you live in Nassau you don't have to travel to a family island. It's a great swimming beach , one of my favorites. I like to buy dilly and mango under the bridge eat in the beach and feed the skin to the tropical fish that come right up to you. The new homes along the beach however are disappointing to say the least. But it's Nassau. Hey it's better than Coney Island.
Rolleville beach in Exuma--The lord may not live in Exuma but he certainly has a vacation home there. When the fishermen are not out there you can run naked on tranquil Rolleville beach for miles. It has awesome views of the cays. There are allot of properties being cleared along the beach so this may all change. The water can be too cold in the early fall.
Cocoplum Beach Exuma --another favorite of mine--a great little bar on the beach--hopefully the locals will keep it pristine it's a popular hang out spot. This beach gets my vote for number one because everyone goes there it's not exclusive, great swimming fantastic views of the cays, a bar with affordable rum and food...I want to go right now. Great family island native touch, you feel like you are back in the 70's.
The Cove in Gregory Town Eleuthera--I like this beach because it's a attached to a little hotel, with decent rooms. The beach is protected but you can venture off it if you are a great swimmer. This place like Cocoplum really gives you that island feel.
Barre Tarre Exuma, You want exclusivity Jump in a kayak and paddle off Barre Tarre Exuma and find a cay with a beach, put a small grill and red snappers on your canoe and go make some babies. I won't tell you which cay cus I don't want to run into you.
The reason Exuma dominates my list is because I have been there the most. The beaches in Cat Island are nice, Bimini - awesome- Long Island as well, Andros and San Salvador I did not like. But I am sure If I spent more time on these islands I would find favorites. But as of today I am convinced the best beaches are in Exuma.
Sunnyjohn 07-24-07, - 12:56 PM Gold Rock Beach In Freeport is another great beach.
I would also like to suggest the Mangrove Cay, Andors beach between Swains, Pinder's and Dorsette!

I have never been denied access to this beach. Actually, its against the law to deny Bahamians access to any beach.
However, you can’t trespass on someone’s property in the process of getting to the beach, because trespassing is against the law.

Man some people don't know how to enjoy anything. People think that to enjoy anything you have to be so carefree that you leave your mess behind. It's ironic because we know just how "effective" maintainance is, esspecially from public service, and yet we still leave all of our stuff behind and expect our non existant personell to pick up.
Do you think some people unconscoiously do it? Like they really believe they are carefull, but if you are going to the beach with a bunch of children, few adults, you deffinately will not always have your eye on them, and they might litter dispite you drilling the opposite into them all day.
And then again like I said, maintainance is not good around here. We don't litter any more than tourists in their own countries I think, but there is a better chance that in their communities, they have effective sanitation. This one island of over 100,000 people only has 7 working trucks, and if it even spries, they will not venture out for fear of melting into organic material.
Anyways, I go on any beach that can be accessed publicly. I hardly bring anythin other than a towel and all the other stuff is in the car so I do bring something out to litter. I don't know about y'all but I was taught that this is my country, and I can walk on the damn beach if I want. Also I should respect the fact that other people are there to enjoy the beach too, so NO DAMN 10 MILLION DECEBLE BOOM BOOM SPEAKERS....AT LEAST! I look crazily at any Bahamian who fool enough to ask me what am I doing on an open beach in my country, as if this is not for them. I mean, what....am I supposed to go to a place like Eleuthera...to go and just sit up on one rock? Besides, it isn't that people have a problem with who goes to the beach, but how you carry on there. I mean if you are going on the beach in front of someone else's property to start a mess, what really do you expect the people who live there to respond?
