Thank you. You don't see fat men telling other men its OK that your thighs rub together and its OK that you need to lift your belly when you pee.

she does but she realizes that getting "healthy" isnt an overnight process....and many woman in their struggle to lose weight become depressed and hate themselves because they dont fit into the "barbie" image hollywood projects...her contest allow women to see that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and like her or not you must applaud her for that....cause come on not everyone will EVER have a naomi campbelll body.....
PS: (I LOVE YOU NAOMI....http://youtube.com/watch?v=w1d3AOvwXjs

Mo'Nique always does. She also advocates loving yourself and realizing that beauty does not come with a 24" waist. And by the way, being skinny does not equate to being healthy either. I know persons who are small with diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol etc. I can appreciate what Mo'Nique has done for bigger women i.e those with self esteem issues.
Ting-um 07-27-07, - 01:12 PM I don't. If you can't stop eating, then you should feel ashamed. But I like how people combat stereotypes by using other stereotypes. Building self-esteem by tearing others down obviously means that you self-esteem is not self-sustaining. That's the problem.

Now how this gone from the fact that a talented comedian like Monique coming to the Bahamas to a issue of weight. Lol..... ya'll is carry on bad nah!

Your first line is sterotypical. You think all big person are that way because of food. "You need to stop eating so much and you would lose weight". That's the way alot of people think. You are big so you must be eating alot. Common misconception. I usually don't share personal info here. But I went from a 7-8 to a 12-14 in about a year. I could not figure out why. Then to a 16-18. About two years ago I was diagnosed with a medical condition. Eating habits never change in fact I became so mindful of what I ate and it stil made no difference. Now, I take meds to control my weight.
It does not bother me what people say/think cause I think I look damn good and so does my hubby but I do have some overweight friends who find it a bit hard to deal with at times.
T'is all.
Ting-um 07-27-07, - 01:49 PM That makes no sense.
Your body is comprised of fat, muscle, bone, organs and other material. These things need fuel or a source of energy. That source of energy can only come from outside the body. That's why if we stop eating, we die. So you can't see that your eating habits have less to do with your weight than anything else. 300 pounds of bone, muscle, and organs needs fuel to sustain that 300 pounds of mass. What determines body composition maybe medical or behavioral. But if you're determined to have a medical condition then you should pay more attention to your behavior - ei. what you eat and your level of activity.

Because she always talking about being fat. Everywhere she goes and anything she does is usually fat-focused. Now if she spoke about her other attributes and highlighted those, then maybe people would learn to see more than a double-chin, stretch marks and cellulite. But when you have nothing else, you focus on what you do have.
adidasboi987 07-27-07, - 01:55 PM telling the fat person tht is struggling with their weight to be ashamed is cruel and in so many ways compunding the problem...

Please...spare me buddy. I am a person who lives it and knows it. Your 'text book' response is typical.
But I am done though. Carry on smartly!!

Sorry if I offended you. But since you went and spoke to a doctor, who probably learned from a textbook, did you tell him that he didn't know what he was talking about since he wasn't the person who lived and knew it?? I'm afraid your highly subjective response is what is typical.
