Police officials are searching for a male suspect in connection with a high speed car chase and shooting that resulted in damage to a police vehicle.

According to Glen Miller, Chief Superintendent in charge of the Central Detective Unit (CDU), around 1:55 a.m. yesterday two police officers were at the intersection of Independence Drive and Abundant Life Road when the incident occurred.

"Corporal 2518 Rolle and Corporal 830 Johnson, from the Elizabeth Estates police station, were on patrol when they observed a black Maxima, which ran the light. They attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation but it continued on," reported Miller.

"They then had a high-speed chase which ended in the area of Marathon Estates. A male exited that car and proceeded to fire a number of shots at the police car and then ran. The car received damage to the front windshield and the side glass. None of the officers were injured. The suspect's vehicle had been reported stolen on Thursday past."
