ANGYANG, China — Complaints of racism and cold-hearted management abound just days before the Miss Tourism Queen International Beauty pageant finals are set to take place in China this week.

Tension grows between the organizers and the contestants as many of the women, from over 108 countries, complained of being pushed to the limits by relentless organizers as the time draws near for the 2007 crowning.

In the three weeks since the beginning of the preliminary rounds of judging, dozens of girls have either gotten sick with the flu or food poisoning — and in some cases both. One contestant suffered burns while performing on a scorching hot stage; another needed three stitches in her foot after getting cut with broken glass. And just last night, the Miss Samoa contestant, Sallie Peterson, had to be taken away in an ambulance after collapsing into an unconscious state for at least 15 minutes, sources reported, which made her the third girl in as many weeks to faint while participating in pre-finale activities.

I wouldn't have given over my passport.

I've traveled to China. It's a big country so you can't get all over, but even down in the poor neighborhoods I felt okay 'cause I was with friends. Chinese food in the West is not real Chinese food.

They aren't very used to people of colour but weren't rude.

I still wouldn't have given anyone my passport. That was foolish.

I dont ever rest down my passport. Even when I travelling with family. I is sleep wit dat on me.

I guess, just like here in the Bahamas, the contest orginizers are not affiliated with the government of the country and are just regular citizens who decided to host the event. And just like here, there are hick up when things aint going right. Dat aint no excuse nah for their poor attitude and behavior. Dey probably aint plan proper an ein ge deysef nough time to do all da tings dey wan do.
