The new FNM government has victimized a local government council in abaco. Two members were appointed who are believed to have supported the PLP in the last election, and they are being replaced by this new FNM government.

If the government is going to have elections for two appointed members, they must do it for all appointed members over the Bahamas. If not it is victimization in the extreme.

Please stop talking nonsense..being appointedto local government council is a priviledge, not a right, and the government has the right to move them if they so desire. If the people support them they will be put back. What is your problem? We have more important things going on other than this non-issue.

I suggest you look at the facts of the matter and the Local Government Act before jumping to such conclusions.

Stop ya lies. Local government reps are supposed to be elected, not appointed. Verginious Alfdord Gruy was too glad to take us back to the Old PLP ways of appointing Local Govt ppl. PLUS, as always, he didnt do it properly. THAT is now being corrected.

Then the Dundas Town situation has to be rectified. Two reps were never sworn in. Imagine, elected by the people and not allowed to take their position. And Augustine Williams and his crew have taken full advantage. Talk about victimisation. He taking jobs from his own Pastor! (to give 2 his son in law).

Read Cay Mills story in the Tribune/Guardian Thursday.

They are "believed" to be PLP supporters. Suppose they are FNM supporters. Suppose The FNM Government 'believes' they are FNM's? Then wat? They victimizing themselves??

:)Wat a load of crap!

:)Fresh Information just in:

Source: http://www.freenationalmovement.org/news.php?cmd=view&id=453

MINISTER LAING: We categorically deny any allegations that the government is “purging the civil service” or is “victimizing” anyone. We regard such allegations as absolute lies being spewed by those who are intent on creating political mischief and who are desperate to return to their privileged perch at the mouth of the government’s spigot.

Since coming to office, this administration has not dismissed any civil servant duly employed by the government. Indeed, anyone remotely familiar with how the civil service of The Bahamas works will know that there is a procedure for the removal of any civil servant, one which in most instances involves the statutorily established Public Service Commission.

The 21,000-plus civil servants and their union know this procedure and know that they have not been targeted by this administration for any kind of purging.

The truth is that a number of contracts issued by the previous administration expired and were not renewed.
