The recent number of rapes in this country has moved me to express some thoughts it's victims confront on their path to healing in a poem called "Unforgetable"
Forgive and forget?
And yet
You haven't walked in my shoes
Clothes torn, thighs bruised
Forgive?
Let that beast live?
Hurt, shame, anger, grief
Defiled, this even tests my beliefs
Oh God,why did this happen to me?
I accepted what you did on calvary!
Please again remove my shame
I want to point fingers
but there's no one to blame
Alas he's caught; he must pay a debt
Forgive and forget?
Blinders removed, I finally see
Forgive and forget!
It's not for saving him
It's for healing me.
