View Full Version : Election Court Under Way
The proceedings for the election court got under way today and i was wondering, If you are the PM, how many of the 3 seats needs to be overturn before you would call an election? or would you as PM just let the court proceedings run its course?
Bear in mind that the PLP needs all 3 seats to be overturned in their favor in order for the government to be awarded to them.
If I were the PM, if one seat is ruled in favor of the opposition i would call an election. Why? the election was close and to have a two seat majority isnt an ideal or comfortable spot to be in if your the PM. If one of the government MP's gets a bit antsy and feels like he/she aint getting no attention, the PM could be put in a potential bad spot, having to worry about defecting MP's. Remember there were 7 independents in the house before election. They all left their party. If it happened once, it can happen now because the closeness of the election has given each MP, on both sides, leverage...
Plus you dont want the OPPOSITION to gain any momentum If the courts rules in their favor. A little bit of hope can do wonders.
How i see it, if the PLP making noise now, it will be much worse if they get 1 or 2 of them seats back.
What do you all think?
bahamiangoddess 08-09-07, - 09:56 PM Knowing Hubiggity he has a plan. I do not believe that the stories about Malcolm Adderley are rumors.
But, if I was the P.M I would wait until after the P.L.P convention in November, then call a snap election only after wooing has failed.
Noone better call any early election, need to fire all of them if they do .. PLP and FNMs, pathetic is what they would be. Next election is 2012 so leave it be.

If HI calls a snap election that would be another deception on his behalf...

The call of an election is in the PM's hands...
The only rule that he has to go by is that it must be called within 5 years!!
If he wants to call it in a year, he has that right and he is backed by the constitution. Pindling called an election in 1968, one year after the 1967 election.....

If the PLP gets 2 out of the three seats, that will be enough to force HI to call an election!!
Now if the PM is able to have 1 or 2 persons switch over, then they will maintain the majority and the PLP will be stuck with a large bill for nothing!!
By the way the bill is no big deal to the PLP especially if they win...
So why you don't run for prime minister rory...
LOL .. no thanks, they a bunch of cry babies up in that parliament, i would have to b-slap them all every day! :D

Get over it seer, the election is over, if you see the silly case that the PLP has before the courts, you as a PLP would cry shame on them...
RECALL, the first case before the court is that of ALLYSION MAYNARD.. she is saying that the election of May 2, 2007 should be decleare null and void and a new election should be called... but her case is so week the even when she tried to beg the court for leave the judge was not even willing to grant her request.... but THE JUDGE ALLOWED it so as to say, evey dog and Allysion deserve their day in court.....
These cases will be short lived for the PLP as when the FNM put up its defense and submission that the election are won on election day and that the voters that the PLP are now trying to protest in the court should have been protested on election day.. and because the PLP was of the view that these same voters were voting for them and that would have been OK...
The other problem that is been found out is that despite it all, many of these people that the PLP are protesting are students away in school and yes, PLP supporters whom they were not able to locate before the election...
SO SAD for the PLP...
SEER, you are a die hard , card carring PLP, so sad.. 5 years of Hubert and guess what, even in a snap election, the PLP will get blow out completely...

You need to get over the election, whyelse would you be following these cases so closely??
You have nothing better to do???
Always going to PLP events spying....and you have the nerve to tell people to get over the election....
You red and you are scared~!!!!!!

Objective, those were just my points of view.. I wnt to the PLP victimization TOWN MEETING cause the ad asked for people who were victimized.. however it turned out that the PLP was not serious.. cause they did not allow this Bahamian who was victimized to have the mike...

Are you saying only if one is a plp they should attend that function, even if the shoe is on the other foot that does not make sense.I would think any bahamian wanting to know party views should attend any party funtion to get an understanding and make dicision from there, because not one of us was stamp on the azz PLP OR FNM.
I can't remember, perhaps someone can refresh my memory. Has an election court ever over turned the election results for a seat in the past? I think there was one?
