View Full Version : Coralwave - Family Is.
Excalibur 08-10-07, - 11:48 PM Does anyone know if Cable Bahamas has plans to extend its coralwave service to the family islands (Southern Bahamas)?
If so, when?
DSL is a waste of time in the southern Bahamas. (Although I have it in Nassau and never have problems)
Satellite is an option but the cost (setup and monthly) is just tooo much.
What say yinna?
guana local 08-11-07, - 12:06 AM We keep hearing rumours that we will be getting cable on Guana Cay but we'll believe it when we see it. All the Cays around us have it and have had it for years.
none on LI yet, guess they are waiting for more customers to make it worth it. They would have to go from island to island first to link it up though. DSL, you lucky if you even got that down there!

Here is a good one....the phones have a dial tone but you can't call out. BATELCO comes and "fixes" the problem! BUT now the phones don't ring when someone is calling but you have a dial tone and can call out! Or, here is another good one. My husband had dial up internet service with BATELCO. He had problems so he got tired of it and went to the office and canceled the service. This was 5 years ago and we still get a bill every month for a service we don't have at our house. He has gone to the office 4 times, called numerous times. He talked to the manager each time and we were told the problem was fixed. STILL get a bill every month!

Excellent question tho. Right now unfortunately its limited to the 4 most populated islands, and I do not think that the stipulations in the tv contract apply to its ISP licence (in terms of # of households or whatever it is)
So I think its just a matter of getting a return on investing such an expansion.

Not really i told batelco tech i was switching to cable if service didn't get better sevice he loled at me and said go ahead. A friend told he spent over a month calling and complaining to cable to get a tech to his house to fix his. They don't care they both are lousy.

Hmm. Think about it like this. We got two large ISPs. BTC in most islands, Cable in 4. Cable bahmas outnumbers btc in customers by a fair margin, so customers have to be choosing them for a reason. If we didnt have competition in the market then..
Scenario 1. Let's say we had only Cable..then there would be only 4 islands with internet.
Scenario 2. Lets say if we only had btc. Then we would only have DSL with internet speeds maxing at about what? 2mbps and then we'd be crying for a competitor like we do for phone services.
Scenario 3. Cable always had the advantage in terms of speeds. When Iconnect came, DSL in response bumped their speeds to somewhat come in line with CW Lite's speeds.. Now Cable has bumped up its speeds even further.
Great Demos 08-11-07, - 07:02 PM Hehe us too.
I hope you all have documentation or proof that you requested Batelco to discontinue the service..
Sometime in the future Batelco may hire a new financial manager or someone in charge of accounts receivable. The new employee might feel inclined to take legal action on all those old outstanding balances in the company's books..
Puts me in mind of an old policeman back in the day who bought a radio from a local Bay St merchant. 10 years later he got a letter saying that he still owed for the radio. He quietly went under his bed and pulled out the receipts from an old card board box, hopped on his old Raleigh bicycle and got the whole thing cleared up!
