View Full Version : Batelco & Voicemail
naitek 08-11-07, - 11:06 AM Hey all,
I have just scrutinized my bill and saw that on average, i have been "GIVING" batelco $20-$45 just checking my voicemail! I can't believe that they charge you for that as well..
Does anyone know of another way to check voicemail because I hate batelco as it is and don't care to give them more $ than i need to.
thanks ..
P.s. I care not to call the BTCBahamas ..
thanks,
naitek....
YorickBrown 08-11-07, - 12:12 PM Method 1:
Call your cell from a landline phone and reject the call when your cell begins to ring (which automatically sends you into voicemail). Press the "#" key after the tone. The vm system will then prompt you for your password. Continue as normal checking your voicemail.
Method 2:
I don't use this way, but I'll confirm the process when I get to a landline.
Call 5570000 (btc voicemail number). It will prompt you for your account # or something to that effect (which should be your cell number with 242 in front - I think)
Once you get to your account, enter your password and you're in.

The first solution did the trick.
im cancelling the voice mail cause the darn thing never works .. it doesnt even ring me anymore when someone does leave a message .. waste of money!
YorickBrown 08-11-07, - 03:56 PM I just switched over to the Blackberry service from my regular postpaid GSM and the voicemail notification seems to work a tad bit better than it did before...
The EDGE platform (internet service) drops out in some areas, but the phone just switches over to GSM mode until it can hop back on the EDGE network. Most likely the redundant connectivity is why my VM notification works really well now.
You should try the Blackberry service man!
Email, internet and IM (AOL,MSN,Google,ICQ and Yahoo) on the go...

Besides like Pocket PCs, those things are too small to do anything worth while .. i got a couple pocket PCs sitting in the closet collecting dust now .. they need to implement island wide wireless so we can use at the least a Laptop.
Also since other blackberries dont work with Batelco's (eg. they cant receive email etc once inside the Bahamas) I wonder if batelco's works outside the Bahamas?

BTC does not charge you to call your Mailbox. If you see that on your bill you need to call them and let them know. So, either you call or send an email or ...well the choice is yours.

Foreigners coming here with Blackberry can roam and receive internet and emails on their phone. And like wise with locals with Blackberry traveling abroad. My Blackberry worked when I was in Chicago in May and my HP smart phone worked in Europe recently.

Thats strange then, as I have a UK client that lives here, travels all over the world every month or so with her UK based Blackberry and it works in every country, except the Bahamas. Have you actually physically used a blackberry that has come from another country, in the Bahamas, or are you just trying to make the company you work for look good for some reason? Cause she can receive her email in every other country she travels to in the world, which are many, but she cannot receive them here - so basically Blackberry service in the Bahamas is useless to her, and I am sure it would be for other visitors.

1. Yes I have a client also from the UK and he can use his Blackberry 8700 here. He chooses not too cause roaming rates are too high. I guess it depends on which ISP the sim card is associated with.
2. I don't work for the company. I just try to put the facts where they fit. But if I did, I would want to make them look good and the reason would be "Because I work there."

I dont know anything about it myself as I dont use it .. just going by what she tells me. She goes in other countries and it just works though .. so she says. She travels for months on end, all over the place (big $$).
sean_marque 08-11-07, - 11:23 PM From what I understand, BTC has roaming agreements with a lot of countries, but just about every country has more than 1 Telco. BTC has roaming agreements with probably 1 Telco from each country. So it could be the carrier she has in the UK.

She uses British Telecom, the main player there.
