Can I say 'five smiles' for that article, "In Love With Long Island"...I can see why! I have not yet visited Long Island but had planned to and now my angst to get there has been upped a notch! I also have plans to visit Abaco, Exuma...have been wanting to Island hop for a VERY long time now. Perhaps I can plan to do so on my next winter vacation here at home and bring a friend or two to tag along. Such wealth and I don't mean simply material but the history and the many stories dying to be told from these gorgeous locales. This is like being married to a King and not know it (yes, he managed to keep it secret like his mother Victoria who left the royalty behind for a life in lingerie), then one day you stumble across his diary and discover not only his identity but his lineage and life as a child and so much more...just kidding...sorry, one of those moments for me! (Those prices on property at Stella Maris are INCREDIBLE...I'll have to call you on that very soon!)
Things have been really crazy with the Beginning Filmmakers Workshop but in a wonderful way. We settled at eight students who are having a great time discovering the systematic and detailed approach to the art of filmmaking...no simple rule of pick up a camera, point and shoot! We will have eight short films by the end of the workshop...they are short shorts...no more than three minutes long. They will be featured in a special premiere screening event designed to showcase the students' work and raise funds for the building and equipment fund of the Academy. I will have details available by the end of the week for release to the public. There will also be information posted at the Academy's community website about the programs coming up in the fall, which include screenwriting! Woohoo!!! The link is http://groups.msn.com/YaphathToarAcademyofDramaticArts so feel free to check it out anytime after Monday 5th July 2004.
I will be calling around some more today about the Whylly Plantation. I've been coming across a lot of websites that address the situation there but none that puts me in touch with Vivian Whylly but I had a eureka moment...dah...why not simply ask the author of the article on the Plantation...you know, in the Bahamas Handbook where it was featured...to put me in touch with Mr. Whylly? Uuummm! Will keep you posted! Have a great week Fay!
