diarra 08-14-07, - 11:46 AM Jeesh! Now I understand what they mean when they say the "dumb down affect." No wonder the quality of professionals across the board leaves so much to be questioned. If our students coming out of highschool with a low aptitude the future looks academically bleak of the bat!

eeerrrrrrr don't you mean "dumb down EFFECT".
'Aptitude' is the natural potential: surely they are coming out of school with poor 'achievement' with the low aptitude being realised.....but then again, I suppose they have poor aptitude for their next set of studies.
BGCSE is a little local examination that has small respect overseas.....many students need to complete an extra year before they qualify for acceptance to overseas tertiary colleges. The government should bring in the International Baccalaureatte (sp) in at least one school to give our high achievers a scintilla of a chance at international recognition for our secondary school system and give them some challenging syllabi.
dacy2003 08-14-07, - 06:05 PM My 14 year old daughter took 7 BJCs and passed all 1(A) 4(B) and 2(C)
she was headgirl at CH Revees Junior High School. There must be corporate interest of both child and parent.

Congratulations to you and especially your daughter. I totally agree with your comment and wish that more parents felt as you do.

A very pleasing result......your daughter has obviously worked hard and deserves success. Congratulations.

Why so they can fail that too?
Those who want to go to foreign school can take the SATs...and BGCSEs are accepted around the world.
1bigfrog 08-14-07, - 08:29 PM Does anyone know how long have we had the BGCSE examination and what was the highest average grade thus far....
I think it was introduced in '93 and thus far D+ has been our highest grade.
