Woodside says he was not ordered to stay away

He said he had not been in Acklins last weekend during the festivities and could not give a personal account of what transpired, but he termed the affair an unfortunate one. "I've asked the director of Sports to pursue a full investigation at this time," he reported, while appearing as a guest on Love 97 FM Issues of the Day radio talk show with host Quincy Parker.

The Minister said he was unaware that 'King' Eric Gibson, who is the Chairman of the Acklins Regatta Committee, intended to pay tribute to the late playboy playmate Anna Nicole Gibson at the regatta.

"King Eric is a consultant of the ministry. We paid for his trip to Acklins and at no time did he advise us of what he was doing as it related to renaming the vessel in the name of Anna Nicole Smith or having a race in her name. So we were not advised about these things; so all I can say at this time is that we will investigate the matter and once I have come to a conclusion, I would be more than happy to discuss it," the minister said.
