Been hearing chit chatter that the PM is ill. Do not know how true it is, but, it is something I have heard before the election.
Now, whether or not he is sick is not my main concern (but if he is, I hope he has a speedy recovery). My concern is, that during this rough time of transition of our government, he is away on holiday like it was nothing serious going on.
Crime has sky-rocketed in the last 3 months. The immigration audit was a fiasco. Jeff Lloyd was calling government Ministries, putting Permanent Secretaries to task, on even issues they had no concern over; but it was in regards to payment for the people who have been working for the government since May, and who have not been paid. Contracts are being mid-managed and the issues regarding their true audit are being fudged. And, education has no vision, or, nothing outlined to say we are going to be better. The list goes on...
I think this is not the time for the PM to be on holiday. I think this is the time he should burrow into his work, and put some things right; as he has said that he would have it.
On the other hand, Perry Christie seems to be campaigning. Not something I have any issue with. However, he has NOT spoken to the Bahamian people directly, via talk show or media. Former Prime Minister Christie, if he is serious about winning an early election, or, serious about his convictions for the Bahamian people, needs to go on air with an interview with a Jeff Lloyd, Quincy Parker, Mike Smith, Jones and Eneas, or, even Keith Wisdom and the other guy at Cable Bahamas (forgot his name, but he used to work for ZNS) and give an account for his tenure and his actions as the Prime Minister of this country for the last 5 or so years.
All the town meetings will be for nought, if Christie cannot go on air to give an account for his tenure and actions, and take some licks from people who he needs to address face to face. I see why Hubert Ingraham had to call his initials PC=Putty Cat, because he appears to be afraid to address the issues with a serious journalist. Ok, I went too far in calling Parker a serious journalist, but, you get my drift. Heck, even bring mack Miller for a one on one on Gems....just come and give an account.
If anyone in the PLP, including the voice on your head PM Christie, were to tell you that is is OK, and, you can slide by not going on national air, they are lying to you as it matters. Even if the calls have to be grossly screened, it matter very much.
Sunday morning word from your out in space Alien.
Bless.
