This may seem strange but I have two BIG bee hives in my (rafters) attic. The exterminators are in the process of killing them but they tell me that the dead hives should be removed. Does anyone know someone who has experience in this?

I would hire 2 or 3 Thrasher birds :D
Trust me when I tell you that they will do the job.

not off hand, but how did they get there!!

I know someone that may be able to help, ive used him before in getting rid of things like dead racoons, and if anyone does he will know, PM me or email me Ill give you his name and number, or I can call him tomorrow for you.

Rory

Thanks Rory, I emailed you.

How did the bees get in there? I guess through an air vent. I have lived in this house of years and we never even saw a bee, now they are every where.

I don't know if I want to trade bees in my attic for Thrashers! But seriously, Thrashers do get a few when the bees leave the building. I have also seen a bird that I did not know was here, a bird simply know as a "Bee Catcher."

What worries me is the "Killer" bees. Have you heard of them? Their sting is no more dangerous that a regular honey bee but the Killer bees are more aggressive and attack in vast swarms of hundreds as opposed to the Honey bee that may only send out a few attackers. Killer bees have already killed many people in the US and South America.

If they are here they wont last long. Too many predators on these islands.

Lest us hope you are right! But Nature, or God if you wish, has set thing up in such a way that predators don't completely destroy their food supply. They take only enough to live on and leave the rest to multiply so there is food for them to eat the next time. It is only man that kills off entire species for food and sometimes, just for the "fun" of it.

As for the Killer bees. They attack in such numbers that they can kill predators.

Finally got rid of the bee hives! It took five or six, five gallon buckets, to get the honey and hives out.

Check your roofs folks - this is an expensive deal if you let it get out of hand.
