A 45-year-old construction contractor from Hollywood Estates on Cowpen Road became the country's 52nd murder victim this year when he was shot to death Wednesday morning by assailants who broke into his home, police said.

Elvis Colebrooke was asleep with his fiancée in their apartment when three men entered the building through the southeast window, just above the bed, Police Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna told The Guardian.

The men apparently beat Colebrooke, searched his home and demanded money from him, Hanna said.
