View Full Version : more crime...
l_bones 08-24-07, - 01:25 AM well leaving hammerheads at 2 am (while it was still packed) on my girlfriends last night in town, got jumped by a guy with a silenced pistol to my head. then two guys tackled her. lucky they only stole my wallet and her purse and a cheap bracelet. i shouldn't say "guys" i should say 16 year old kids. didn't know what they were doing, i had to tell the guy to calm down and get my wallet for him. he didn't get my cell phone in my other pocket. we're ok though.
my old apartment the grill was stolen this weekend while it was chained to the wall. then today my old roommate see's someone walking around with a PVC pipe in the yard, he runs off when he sees him. Broad daylight and in a 6 apt place.
WTF is this Bahamas coming to? I know crime is prevelant as always, it just seems with all the news articles, posts here, and stories things are getting worse. my friend made the comment that it seemed like crime went up when FNM came in last time.
and i saw an article that said the police don't want foreign help. They should definitely bring in foreign help. people going missing on a regular basis seems like.
if anyone hears of an Olympus FE 170 camera for sale cheap let me know, its the one those @!#!@#$ kids stole in my girlfriends purse.
bahamianpride 08-24-07, - 01:29 AM if by getting worse you mean 'crime is now affecting the more affluent bahamian', then i guess you're right....
chancellor 08-24-07, - 01:31 AM I don't know whats going on in Nassau these days, and the thing is the stuff you hear in the news in not even half of it.
Crime rates been climbing for the past few years .. its just getting worse and worse .. bring back executions and you will see it drop, end of story, dont care who it upsets ... they can speak to the hand. :sailing:
PS. sorry to hear about that and glad you and yours are okay.

oh sorry i should have said I'm a multi-millionaire white knight of course, i was born with a silver spoon and if you want i'll jamb it right up your
anyways...it shouldn't matter who you are. but if you think this is the first time i've had a gun pulled on me think again. i haven't met anyone from any other country that has had more robberies, burglaries, or ****ed up crime stories than me. that's sad.
i'm glad we came out OK as well. she's a little shaken and scratched up but it could have been a lot worse. i've read stories you've told as well and others, man this amount of crime is ridiculous.
bahamianpride 08-24-07, - 02:09 AM if the cap fits...
the truth is more 'affluent victims' typically amass the most print space...
crime was horrendous when it was generally an inner city thing...but now that it has 'hit suburbia and the more affluent areas of nassau we have a crime problem....
diarra 08-24-07, - 02:43 AM I feel dead bad that these type of things happened o you .... bey between me and you it's all systemic of the social problems we allowed to degenerate to the level that it has. I hope you reported it to the police .... but more so I hope you had a good look at any of the dudes.......deal with what you gotta deal with.....
Sunnyjohn 08-24-07, - 09:46 AM Ya'll ga piss up another good thread with this foolish back and forth.... :gi:
Yes, rich folks get more press when they are the victims of crime, but let's face it we are in the throws of a full blown crime wave.
The kids need better education and better parenting if we intend to stem this tide.

Apparently, you didn't read Rory's memo...
Hammerhead is where all the criminals hang out...
Sorry that you got robbed though..
But tell your friends...hammerhead is NOT safe...too close to the ghetto and druggies hang out there...
1bigfrog 08-24-07, - 11:06 AM perhaps the Bahamas needs to become a police state...
crime sure to decrease.

bahmaboy 08-26-07, - 02:30 AM wow sorry this happened to you.
HOWEVER i should say that we all know nassau isnt some sleepy little town so why be out at 2am. i just saw on the guardians website a woman was robbed at her house at 10 pm.
truth is nassau is now a town that come sundown, you should have all you business taken care of and you in for the night.
also do you think criminals care which government is in power. the crime in nassau has been escalating and will continue to escalate if serious changes are not made.
unfortunately i believe the horse has gone through the gate and many people will not realize that the horse went through the gate until it goes buck wild and it takes a tranquilizer gun to get it back under control.
