FACTS ONLY 08-24-07, - 06:57 AM Where there any town meetings held more than 10 months ago, BEFORE this proposal was signed?
Please don't tell me a government who had CLAIMED to have consulted us on matters such as this, DID NOT!!:realmad:
It was obvious that the investors were quite shocked at the reactions of the concerned Bahamians who they felt should have being BOWING to them.
The young investor kept on insisting that the proposal HAD TO GO ON IN ITS PRESENT FORM OR BE SQUAT!!
The anger and concern of the people didn't appear to faze him one bit!!
WHO THEY TINK THEY IS?
islandgyal 08-24-07, - 07:34 AM i was in nassau for at least one of the town hall meetings that was called a few years back, and there were very few other people in the room at that time. but seriously, why is this dennis dames person our community spokesperson, when he has so little grasp of the real issues at hand?
"I could remember Clifton one of the biggest problems with that was that road and here we are now with these developments we are not just talking about blocking off that nice road that lots of Bahamians drive on, especially on Sundays, but we are talking about diverting two roads and in addition to that, with all of these developments coming on stream, it is overwhelming to all of us because we really don’t know what is going to happen," he said."
get this guy out of the room, or this deal will head to the dominican republic the way that the last two big proposed projects did. then again, that may be not be such bad news ... how badly does nassau want the southwest rejuvenation project, anyway? i thought that moving the port down that way was a brilliant suggestion.

was he from Dames and Associates? If so .. well that got some stories. Otherwise, who the heck got gas money now adays to be driving way the way out that side of the island!!
BahamaBreeze 08-24-07, - 11:12 AM I think that the any Government that is in power has an obligation to the people that placed them in power to consult with the people of The Bahamas before signing ANY Head of Agreement. This is to say that it is insulting to The Bahamas that here it is you've(shareholders) invested money into a development that has a time limit to be completed but here it is there are concerns that you thought were already addressed. It is quite embarassing to the Government as it should be ....because how could you agree to such a project without getting the concerns of all Bahamians aired out.
Nassau already has limited beach access...inclusive gated communities...damaging the marine life for lavish yatchs....golf carts....and all of this will not be accessible to us "Bahamians" who suppose to have a stake in " our" island....
To be quite honest...i'm tired of the same ole *expletive*...selling our land for exclusive use...the big resorts...atlantis...bahamar...when will we realize we are but an island....and we are truely transforming Nassau from what it really is. If i wanted to be in a cosmopolitan city I would migrate to New York.

He has that right , he has a signed agreement that he probably would have been waving in front of the people that night. And we have no knowlegde about a clause concerning renegotiating or whatever else. It's a permenant contract which includes everything and that road.
No, there was no consultation. And everything about the project was highlighted accept the road and I belive that they know that this issue would have been hellfire, but their "consulting" arse did not consult anyone about it.
If people did not get the message, the town meeting was just a heads up to the Bahamian/ New Providence Resident that in terms of transport, and beach access (no matter what albany says) you are going to be screwed......so lube up!
