View Full Version : Been busy: like da debil!
Alien 08-26-07, - 09:36 AM Yea guys and gyals, have been a little busy as of late, and have not been paying attention to all of the events this week, to give an informed opinion on the issues. However, a few things stuck out in my mind that just screams for a word or two in edge-wise, away from the rabble.
UWI students. Now, they have a claim, and they have a right to ask for government assistance, does not mean they may get it, but, they were right to ask and I don't blame them. Also, Symonette looked completely out of touch, to not even give the situation a thought; not because the kids may have sounded spoilt, but he sounded as if he did not even have time to think that a hurricane just hit Jamaica. Prayers are with my friends in Jamaica, and I have gotten word that things are "ok". For now.
Now, I don't give Symonette any fault, in regards to some of the kids not registering. However, he gets fault for looking like he just did not even care. Also, to come out defending an indefensible position as it is, just seems to be one of the utmost "cover yer own tail" type of actions. Maybe it's because he is a middle child, tis why he has the tendency to shift and slink about on the issues; he may be accustomed to it. In any event, we should go and "look" at the issues in Jamaica, and see that our people and the Jamaican people are "ok".
On another note, this issue with Deveaux talking so much. What is his problem? It seems as if he is everywhere, defending every single contract he cancels, and every person he fires. LOL.....There is an old saying; "when you talk too much, sooner or later you will tell a lie"....Deveaux has been talking way too much. Also, I am of the impression that when people mention things like "character", his name comes straight to mind as a character indeed. Especially on this new issue, and I say that in full view of island gyal and dames little tiff, the Albany project. He has put himself in the middle of this thing for what exactly?
Now, if this man "Anand" paid his money, and BOTH SIDES OF THE HOUSE AT THE TIME, including the senate, as well as the civil service who approved it, with the signature of the GG, then, what is Deveaux trying to do exactly? I just don't get it.
In any event, I have been a bit busy, and have been in the heat of writing my work. I am afraid of not getting high marks, and am afraid that I may sleep in the tube station for a few weeks, before I get a real job and an apartment. God bless, and pray for me as I need one.
Alien.
:)

Seriously though, if you get really stuck let me know .. i have some business contacts in London now, and other parts of the UK .. that may be able to help.

Decent of you Rory.
Alien, I am sure you will make it OK. You just have "graduation jitters." :)
Alien 08-26-07, - 07:14 PM Well. Thank's for the consideration, and I may ask Rory to send one of his people my way, in order for me to make it through the days.
And, it may be a bit of jitters, but, I am cutting it close if not very off-scale. We may see starvation, and those pounds I lost over the last few months, may be nothing compared to what I am about to lose now.

Een no fruits and berries dis way. Man, hardly een no trees.
Just now read this verse today...(by chance, after I started to fret about what am I gonna do)
Luke 9
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
1When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3He told them: "Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. 4Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them." 6So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
Seems as if I am a travellin man from here on in....when the holy spirit speaks to ya, it speaks and if you een get it, you een wan get it.

So you gonna do some evangelism or you just quoting scripture all outta context??? Why dont you come back to Nassau and work?
Alien 08-26-07, - 07:41 PM So you gonna do some evangelism or you just quoting scripture all outta context??? Why dont you come back to Nassau and work?
Well. Not as far as evangelism (even though I should), but, we ga be a travellin man on da grace of God. It's about time I step out, and show true trust in my saviour in all of my endevours. I have never felt this wanting of God, since the days leading up to my baptism. With that, I promised this is the last time "home", so, we have to get this right or die trying.
I get it now. You have to be down to ya last, and only God will be able to bring your forward. Just like the crucifixion, you have to "die" and God will bring ya back. I want this cup to pass, indeed I do, but, there is no other way...until the Lord shows another way.
But, home is da last option. Right now, I gat my mind on true corporate training, and not some half-azzed training to be crooked and tief up people money. Since I gat da talent, we ga see how far dis ting take we.
Besides, da gubment change and I een dat close wit market forces dem. So, I dun at a disadvantage. Even doe I may get a sub-par job back home, leaving this job-market would be a gross mis-judgement on my part. I left the US market way to soon, I won't make the mistake again in the worlds larget financial centre......
Ya boy gone global man...or at least, tryin to go global.
:)

Are you just looking in the UK?? There are lots of firms off wall street that you could get in. Depending on your specialty. If its fixed income then you're falked, as you say. I also recommend getting something beyond just a BA even if you're just looking for an analyst position - which in itself should be easy considering you're graduating from LSE.

I had at least three interviews so far. One was for a tading position, and the others were for equity research. The trading one did not call back, even though he said he wanted me to come back during the break to work for free. The others told me no.
Talked to a friend of mine at church, he is a senior finance guy in the city, he said that the summer students have the job place cluttered, but when they go back, there will be a few new openings. But along with this, most of the CEOs are on vacation, and this is not the cycle to hire. He said by mid-late September, is when they start looking again seriously, as they tend to make hiring choices together.
I have got friends, who have their masters in econ, looking for jobs right now; the job market is tough bro, even for a LSE grad. The Finance/Econ guys, at least the ones who looked early, have all got the first pick in IB and IM. I am interested in IM and Capital Markets, but also interested in Management Consultancy; have been looking deeply into that, but have not applied heavily like I did with IB and IM.
But, the cycle so they say.....will hop my arse into an employment agency next week, and apply for a regular joe job. Had one at a hotel, but turned it down as money came in.
But, now is the time we get serious and get we money right.
:hammer:
