the almighty christian council got Cable Bahamas to remove BET (which i do in fact miss) but left at least five channels that violate even more of their so called code of ethics....hypocrites. Even more reason to buy a dish setup :)

haha if I was cable bahamas I was not backing down to the christian council... What were they gonna do? Smite me? haha yeah right... I'm sorry but no Bahamian was gonna actually ditch cable in protest, not as much as Bahamians love to watch tv.. What were they gonna do? Switch to the dish? Not if they have to pay for it and even if they did BET is there too.

The only reason those bastards relented to the christian council in the first place is because theres money to be made off the folks that would actually pay for BET as a premium channel even though all over north America it is a basic cable channel. This is pretty much the entire population, and now that the dish isnt as easily accessible as it used to be, i'm sure they're coughing up their cash to cable Bahamas, post haste.

Yeah I agree african american culture is invading our culture, but thats only because we let it and because of our proximity to the U.S. It all starts at home, with the parents but making BET, of all channels, a premium channel wont help or change anything. With that said I think Bahamians underestimate our culture and how different we really are from Americans. Living in the states now, I see it but before I moved here I couldnt. We are just in our own different world, and I love that. I'm different.

If I am not mistaken, comedy central is a part of the basic package. I like to watch South Park, but sometimes that show is so offensive I have to switch the dial. Cutting BET was reactionary and not thought out, but I agree with you wrt Cable Bahamas. The reactionaries did them a favour without realizing it. More ch-ching for them!

Despite the rumors, the decision by Cable Bahamas to remove BET had nothing to do with the Christian Council or any church group for that matter. The move was a monetary one connected with the cost of carrying that channel, etc. in their package and the company's executives can very easily confirm this for any subscriber who really wants to know.

We are a democracy but business's are afraid of the Christian Council. Why I have no idea. You know the cell phone commercial where all the stick men are putting money in a basket and one turns blue and goes the other way. The church wants to keep Bahamians putting money in their baskets. Bahamians are just starting to turn blue.

Cable bahamas knows that BET was popular and that people would pay for it, I feel the the christian council thing is largely a rumour, or at best a half-truth.
