Bahamas Are We Loved By Our Caricom Neighbours

The other day i was surfing the net looking for some soca music, when i cam upon a site called www.muzikmedia.com. It is a great source for entertainment and news from the caribbean. However i notice the lack of Bahamian media and news posted on the site. So i went to their notced board and was greeted with the following topic on an active discussion
"bahamas is not d ****ing caribbean"
I then proceed to read this post and others and and see how some of our neighbours feel about the bahamas. But we spend alot of time on this site defending some of our caricom neighbours.
I will post a link for you to read on some of the nice things these people think about our country

well first most people there need to go to school and learn english, or a language that can be translated.

Second, we are not in the Caribbean as we are not in the Caribbean Sea, but we ARE in the West Indies though. Ofcourse some people still do believe we are part of the Caribbean: http://www.country-data.com/frd/cs/cxtoc.html#cx0024

Thirdly, who cares what a jamiacan thinks? Country has highest crime rate in the world probably, its dollar means nothing, music isnt really that great, dirty place and alot of bad mouth people who when alot of them travel to the first world they set up jamaican gangs and partake mostly in crime. Not all, but a large majority of them.

Lastly, we have our own issues, but they arent as bad as jamaica yet, plus, we almost have more of our own islands than the entire Caribbean.

They are obvously people who don't know enough. Junkanoo.....FAKE CARNIVAL!!!!????? you have to be kidding me. We dont need to argue with them on who is better. That is silly. It's a mix of pure ignorance and jealousy with no sanity in between. Besides...look at statistics and we all know who is better.

We might as well leave that blasted organization anyway.

Firstly, I couldnt really understand what they were saying. They sound like a bunch of jealous, mis-informed persons. Thirdly by definition it is impossible for a country not to have culture. From what I understand who you are is your culture.

    Culture -

The accumulated habits, attitudes, and beliefs of a group of people that define for them their general behavior and way of life; the total set of learned activities of a people.

Learned behavior of people, which includes their belief systems and languages, their social relationships, their institutions and organizations, and their material goods - food, clothing, buildings, tools, and machines.

The shared values, traditions, norms, customs, arts, history, institutions, and experience of a group of people

I visited the site, was not entertained...and I saw no reason to be apart of it. It is definately not an intellectually based site...

most of the bahamians, jamaicans, trini's etc who participated in that thread sounded retarded. the majority of them put the entire region to shame. i was so ashamed for both sides of the argument. it is so stupid, immature, and small minded to argue about music and whos culture is better.

NEWSFLASH: REGGAE sounds HORRIBLE. (at least in my opinion) it is for this reason most of the reggae that hit the main stream in america has fruad beats. PON DA REPLAY n e one. lady saw with missy elliot or when she be fruadin with NO DOUBT. truth is the true reggae beats just cant and doesnt capture the attention of main stream. secondly check the folks who listen to the real reggae, the majority produce nothin but bad vibes. i always wonder why so many bahamian youth gravitate towards that crap. NAILS ON A CHALK BOARD

the funniest part of that argument is the "REAL CARIBBEAN" folk who think this way throw jeers at the BA for being tooo americanized, its just the unofficial florida. i personaly dont have a problem with that. TO ALL THOSE LISTENING: if n e one step to you with that noise, simply say THANK YOU. cuase those things are what is saving the bahamas' hide. those things is what many of their citizenry flock to in mass numbers and neva wanna leave.

Re: Are We Loved By Our Caricom Neighbours

I was literally overcome by the amount of obscenities and expletives in those so called debates. I am disappointed at all that were involved. As far as that forum is concerned, hopefully it will shut down because of serious lack of participation. That is not a forum for intelligent debate, but hurling insults. It is utter trash, and the moderators are obviously not educated or intelligent as to allow such discussions to get so out of hand.

And let me say that I believe that it is a minority in the rest of the Caribbean that dislike and are indifferent towards the Bahamas, so I am not moved by the rants and ravves of a few illiterate individuals. The entire Caribbean is one melting pot of disunity, and no one seems to like or get along with no one. There is rivalry left, right and center. Trinis cant stand Guyanese and vice versa. Jamaicans cant stand Bajans and vice versa, everyone else cant stand Jamaicans. With all the bs going on in the world right now, this foolishness doesnt even deserve web time.

I say lets move on from this, we gat better tings to do.
Equality is a politically correct philosophy that is in contradiction to the inherent flaws of human nature. Equality does not exist and we are not all created equal. Therefore armed with this sobering fact, the strong willed will strive to do their best anyway, while the weak will succumb to it.

Kudoes to the moderators for deleting threads whose sole purpose is to create a ruckus and tarnish people's reputations.

    I agree,
this is just a small post on a caribbean website but how many more are out there.
The thing that bothers me is the gov was so much behind this CSME agreement. But these people (IMO) dont care for the Bahamas and will use us like a stepping stone

Bahamas Re: Are We Loved By Our Caricom Neighbours

Blood fire! Man, that site knocked my ears on the floor...when I picked them up, they were still ringing like hell! Oh, and by the way, regea played around the world is NOT a Jamaician product! The original native Jamaician music could not fine a market in USA, UK and CA! Simply, it was banished to dance halls and street coners in Kingstown etc.

Crist Blackwell (of Bob Marley fame) combined native Jamaician music and "masked" its rough "country" edges with Eurocentric overtones and created the fugue known on the international scene as ragae. So, you see, native Jamaician music took a piggy back ride out of the dance halls dressed as white music with a Jamaician flavor!

As for the statement: "Y'all ain't part of the Caribbean"...that's true! Thank God! Cause them doing all kinda fool up there! And if the Bahamas is so destitute of culture and deportment, then tell why all dem bring they damn sef up here in such big numbers? Every time we look around another boat or plane load land here! CSME, and any kinda E they wan do they come looking for the Bahamas...child please! They know that we gat the answer! We know how to do this thing called nation!

Now don't get me wrong, we gat we faults too! And plenty a them at that! But we een nowhere close the whole damn bunch a them! I IS PRAD TO BE A BAHAMIAN...WITH WE CRAZY PREACHER THEM AND ALL!!
