Thread: Desiree Cox Gone!

    Desiree Cox Gone!

Left the Bahamas all together, after being unceremoniously fired from her government job after the changed of administration. Sad. Do we have any more rhodes scholar still living in the Bahamas? Or has all abandoned us or is it we who have abandoned them? Desiree come home.

Sorry to hear this. I met her - smart person, the kind we need in abundance.

Definitely not true. Just last weekend she was seen in the Shogun Revolver Restaurant with her Bahamian fiancee. She was travelling in South America for an extended period of time, and she has showings of her paintings and jazz concerts on two continents, but she is definitely living in Nassau (out west).

No -- not at Urban Renewal. Being at UR was frustrating for her. Even that political powers that appointed her held her back. She wanted to do good and change the world, but they were not ready for her energy, her visionary ideas, and concrete actions that would change the Bahamas. They were not ready for the transparency, open book methodologies of operating, or taking decisive action. This was true of both political parties.

She is happily painting and singing, and has had a remarkable acceptance of her canvases. Her painting mentor is fine arts guru Stan Burnside.

Whew, I am glad to hear that Lurker. Dr. Cox is a very smart lady and very down to earth, we need more like her.

Thanks for the update. i didnt think she had left. She is an AMAZING spirit, someone who you can learn loads from, if you just take the time to speak to her.

I know first hand what you speak of with UR, it is such a shame, because that program (the research part atleast) had some much potential to do so much good and effect the lives of those it served and those Bahamians who are researchers like herself. She made a selfless sacrifice for me in my own research endeavors and the chance to work with her is something that I will continue to cherish and emulate.

She keeps her karma balanced, so she will never fade.

Great woman, great person, great Bahamian.
    Hustling straight through!

All depends on your political divide, and we all know where yours lay; Notwithstanding the fact that Ms. Cox may have been frustrated with her job at UR, she remained there without complaint attempting to make a difference. However, when our government changed, she was purposefully uprooted and discharged, forcing her to just concentrate on her secondary skill for employment. Currently the Bahamas lacks her talent, as tours the caribbean and abroad attempting to make a living through selling her art.

In essence, Ms. Cox is gone. Her talent is gone.

Be real Brown suga, the woman was lured home with the idea that she should contribute back to her country. That was her sole purpose for returning to the Bahamas. Something happened!
