yes, at the present time. Since you said the west i assumed it encompasses the western hemisphere
but if you limit it to north america and the bahamas. It still is invalid for in 1/4 of the countries slaughters of this sort happen. Mexico messes it up once again

Nope, still common since it's regions full of Muslims slaughering non-muslims(christians, pagans, et. al). It's not common in areas, such as North America, because they are based on Christian ideals. Sounds anti- political correctness, I know, but look at the demographics...

Canada, USA, Britain, France, Italy, etc. all christian based and little religious conflict. Iraq, Nigeria, Iran, far east such as Malaysia, all with major muslim populations and there's religious conflict with concentrating on slaughter, especially of christians.

Speaking 'truth to power(political correctness)' will probably get me barred, but doesn't negate truth.

Thank you for telling me, Yardman I try not to consternate on such matters as I had an experience, many years ago, regarding a massacre in Africa. I guess I hope that these things don’t happen anymore. It is a painful thing to see, more painful to think about.

Some of the issues are ethnic as well; Nigeria is the most diverse of all African countries.

i shouldnt even answer this foolishness. So, what about last year in that same city of Jos. The police went wild rounding up muslims and killing numerous innocent people and slaughtering them. Falsely accusing them of being Boko Haram. What about the slaughter of over 30 journalist in the mainly catholic country the Phillippines. The massacres happening in Mexico another christian country. I dont know what your agenda is but please refrain from spreading a loop sided opinion not supported by facts as truth and reality

Excatly and not only ethnic/tribal, religious as well as lifestyle(nomadic vs. settler)
Then in the niger delta its a conflict based mainly on economics. The people are suffering instead of prospering from the oil in the region
