    The best minds??

These so called best minds oversaw the destruction of the financial services industry.

Remember $26 mil for two boats that cannot even get into coral harbour much less most of Bahamian waters

$14mil for the "Welcome Centre" (built by the brother of the former DPM

10 years of unprecedented economic boom is squandered while our tourism infrastructore crumbles around us

$100 mil committed to the education loan programme with no provisions for administration (is it any wonder the programme is in a mess?)

Committment to give public servants a raise four years into the future when we have no idea how the economy would perform year to year

$10mil for two ancient aircraft for BAir

I could go on all day. If the "best minds" conjured up these lame brained schemes the only conclusion we can draw is that some one (ones) had their hands in the cookie jar. And please do not talk about these being in the past. These things will continue to affect us for years to come.

i have said it before, and i will say it again, civil servants increase was nothing more than an election ploy. to much money was squandered, in the last ten years. thats why it behooves the government to be prudent at this time. make the civil servants wait. PLP, STILL GOT MY VOTE.

FNM IF ELECTION TODAY? Huh...Let me think..

    ....Am still thinking

I try to look at in terms of the big picture, put my own feelings and impressions aside and see what would be best for our country. I try to forget that when the FNM was the government I only saw FLOYD WATKINS our REPRESENTATIVE ..ONCE.....guess when, aha... you guessed it rite...during election time.

But I look around now with our current government .....I've noticed and increase of broken, out of order traffic lights, more holes on Harold Road, the luggage conveyer belt at the airport still noisey or not working...is road works going to be completed? is there any plan to encourage the economy? is there any plan of any kind?

am afraid the general feeling I get and others I've talk to is that...currently nothing's happening ....nothing that is exciting, new, refreshing, new as in new ideas, new faces in this government, new contributions by younger capable citizens..only the same old same old.

I think what I am trying to say is that if I had to give my vote today I would be kind-of-undecided for lack of options.

I would not vote PLP and I would not vote FNM unless the FNM came up with new leadership and the PLP gave a chance to younger educated Bahamians.

But I think is healthy to change which party governs every TERM to remind those politicians that they do not own this nation, WE THE PEOPLE DO !

    There I said it

    Bahamas

I think alot of Bahamians would like to vote for the FNM. When they were in power, the country was mostly better off, and there was a sense of things always being done. Investors were flocking here, there was always something on the horizon. Now I dont see nothing good being done, no hope and no help on the way.
Under Hubert Ingraham, some ppl did not like his style of leadership, but my goodness the man could run this country, unlike his opponents. People had confidence in Hubert as a leader. He knew exactlywhere he was and where he was going. We may not of agreed with all his decisions, but at least he made them and stood by them.

Now Tommy, I think he would run this country much better than Perry. I think he has the smarts to get the job done, but unfortunately he does not have the charisma and style to win the hearts, minds and votes of the bahamian ppl. If Hubert returns as leader, the FNM will blow the PLP out. Hubert has a way with words and ppl, that when he wants to he could turn any game in his favour. He also has a way of reminding us all of way we had and now what we dont. It the FNM returns Hubert as leader, or replaces Tommy with someone of better suited to the Bahamian ppl, they have a good chance.

I agree wholeheartedly!!!! I travel on Harold Rd. twice a day and my goodness everything rattles and shakes in my car. I am always getting flat tires and having to buy new ones. I buy the best tires the ppl have and in 6mths time I have to change them. That road is a disaster that no one in government cares about!

People got to start thinking differently. Don't expect the government to do it all for us. Basically we are inefficient, lazy and unmotivated. Our half asleep and time wasting public utilities, our teefing from the work place, our laisez faire attitude to most things work related has got to stop. We constantly criticize our politicians when we are a true reflection of these people. We gotta get of our butts and stop blaming everything on the government.

    WAKE UP BAHAMAS!!

As far as Mr. Turnquest is concerned, while I have expressed in the not to long ago past that he is not capable, it has never been my position to try and influence unduly who the public or a Party should have as it's leader--I focus more of my energy on who should be gone as leader! And that is because I know that the Bahamian people always find a way to do something uniquely stupid every five years regarding leadership (i.e. 1992, 1997 and 2002). Therefore, I believe that until Mr. Turnquest and the FNM decisively and publicly denounce Mr. Ingraham and label him persona non grata from the decision making of the FNM, then they will never be taken seriously. And Mr. Turnquest has to present himself in a different manner and as opposed to everything that his ilk has stood for, because believe it or not, more people rejected him because of those behind him, then because of him as a person.

    Re: Free National Movement

This thread looks like a set-up,

    SOMETHING FISHY!!

I live on BI and went out for a few hours. Now I come back to find, they had an election, I ain't had a chance to vote. What kind of democracy this is.

MAN OPEN THE POLLS AND COUNT IT AGAIN!!!!!!

I have this feeling that this will end up on some talk show. Well, I could not vote but let me have my say. This thread does not appear to reflect the majority of the views of the regular members of Bahamas Issues, and we ain short on people with views.

If you want the views of the majority, and their opinions, the poll should be re-opened. Man they even let Allison count it again!!!!

After all that was said about this site in the past few days, I know something going on, time will tell!

This is exactly what politicians did to the DARROLD Miller, tell all their peeps to bombard the show with calls and e-mails when they were on!

    THE DEVIL IS A LIAR!!!!!
