List of 2007 Bahamian murder victims. Mostly men!

The Guardian published a list today of the murder victims

Take a look. 95% of the victims and accused ARE YOUNG MEN UNDER 30!

Maybe we all and "The Power's That Be" need to take a look at THAT statistic to come up with a solution.

What are the issues causing our young men to be so angry????

When you see them all listed down with the ages, and how they die, it strikes you more than the 10 second to 4 minute segment on one death.

Hello Sunny and everyone else here!

I think much like Iraq, the Bahamas is in an undeclared civil war. While all the powers that be may deny that we are at war, civil or otherwise, the facts supports that conclusion.

Extreme problems require extreme solutions and like the war in Iraq, we need a surge. Whether thats a surge in the numbers of police on the streets, or a surge in the number of parenting programs or a surge in free contraception or a surge in hanging or even a surge in prayers for the youth of our nation, WE NEED A SURGE!!

Perhaps we'll wait until we wake up one day and find that all of our young men are either dead or in jail. Oh sorry, they won't be in jail because all of the young prison officers will also BE DEAD!!!

In the meanwhile, I will put the same security bars on my car windows that I have on my house.....yes, I am THAT afraid!
Well, I just might.... if you asked nicely!

Fed Up Re: List of 2007 Bahamian murder victims. Mostly men!

Well, the PLP has now politize CRIME.. Urban Renewal cured all of our crime woes.. we have never had crime under Urban Renewal.. or at least in the inner cities...

We must do something about crime...

Maybe, the second chance program.. was also a good idea...

Repeat offenders is only an illusion, of Tommy T and HI,

.. Parry Chriti - why did we vote him OUT.. now our country is going to hell, Crime only came to the Bahamas since Parry Christie is not our PM... It eeen Right Lawd... It EEEN Right...

    LOL...
It's amazing when you're black and u challenge bigotry and racism and someone thinks u hate white people. No, I hate bigots and racists!

    ......
Just because the political parties politicize crime does not mean WE have to. Obviously we ( the public) need to stop that and start a new type of thinking.

This is WAY bigger than politics.

As long as the surge here works better than the surge in Iraq, I'll get behind it.

    Tracey,

I agree a surge in police presence, community policing (neighborhood watches), youth programs and parenting calsses would be an EXCELLENT start.

Perhaps we should declare a temporary state of emergency and reopen the schools next week (since the last few murders have been of school aged kids, by school aged kids).

Thanks for making this your second post and getting involved in the REAL Bahamian issues.

Does anyone have more information on this? Which Marvin Henfield? What did he do for a living?

I pray it isn't the Marvin I know.

If we don't get involved we'll all suffer the consequences together. BI and persons like yourself have created an awesome forum for the exchnge of ideas and healthy debate. I'm just sorry it took me so long to get here!

Well, Delroy is the svengali, the rest of us are just the mouth piece.

Look forward to you posting often. Make sure you tell all your friends and cohorts about the solutions we come up with here.

I too agree that more police presence is a good start but I think most people dont realize that the one crime that the police cannot predetermine and their presence cannot prevent is MURDER. Unless you are the murderer, no one can predict when and how a murder will take place. We need to find solutions to keep these fellas them off the streets. CURFEW Anyone?
