Guardian Tribune Merger Not Good For Country

I am baffled that many Bahamians do not see the evil that can result from the merger of the countries two major newspapers. It in my opinion is a huge mistake!!!!!!!!!
The reason here is simple. The Tribune has always used its newspaper to promote its own political agenda. It was always considered a pro FNM newspaper!! Now the same people who have been managing the Tribune are now controlling the Guardian.
Now with the FNM controlling ZNS , the Punch, The Guardian and the Tribune the PLP may not any hope of winning the election in 2012!!!
This is the same thing that caused George Bush to be re-elected. Many in the American news media were giving a conservative twist on the news that caused many Americans to favor the Republican Party without good reason. MSNBC and FOX especially were all pro Republican news Medias. Now the exact same thing is happening right here in the Bahamas.
The PLP now has nowhere to turn and may be forced to advertise in a newspapers that are deeply rooted against them.. THE FNM GOVERNMENT SHOULD HAVE NEVER ALLOWED THIS MERGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE GOVERNMENT HAS PREVENTED MERGERS BEFORE WHY NOT THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fellow Bahamians this is not good for democracy and I call on PLP’s to boycott both major newspapers!!!! I would advise PLP’s to purchase the Guardian and the Tribune only on an emergency basis. This is what I plan to do.
I am also calling on Mr. Charles Carter (who recognized that the merger was evil and resigned) to establish a NEW newspaper and harness the support of the PLP supporters!!!!
Now is the time Mr. Carter to establish a New Newspaper that is fair unbiased and objective like I know you can. The Guardian for the most parts was unbiased and objective and your leadership of the Guardian continued this great tradition.
Mr. Carter you are the most capable person in the private sector to take on such a task
I am asking you to do this not just for you but for your country. You see you do not always have to be in Parliament to serve your country. You can serve your country by doing the right thing.
If you are anyone for that matter chooses to take on such a project I will pledge my full support.
In closing I am asking PLP supporters to execute a partial boycott of these major newspapers. PURCHASE THESE PAPERS ONLY WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! !We cannot show them that this kind of merger is OK. This is something I feel we must do or we will feel the pinch of this merger in the 2012 election campaign

Oh yeah, and sure by boycotting these papers they are also boycotting all those smaller and start up businesses that advertise in these papers .. yeah that makes sense.

    Go PLP .. LOL

eh, also, so thats less than 50% of the population, so what about the other 50%+? Put it this way, Plotrickal junkies buying or not, they still gonna sell plenty papers.

They are private entities, spending their money, not from the public treasury, not from my pocket. I will not boycott any of the newspaper, all of the weekly specials, obituaries, announcements and jobs among other information are listed there.

Those who want to boycott may have everything that they need, the small man don't. I KNOW many small business people whose livelihood depends on the newspaper, not to mention the street vendors. Only those who feels it knows it.

Fight your own political battle, leave the small man out of it!

He was fired. Carter was reason that the Guardian was losing money because he ran the place like a typical PLP cabinet Minister. Good riddance.

You do not have to boycott anything!!!
Chances are you are a FNM supporter anyway!!!!!
FNM's have no problem with the fact that ALLl the daily newspapers favor their point of view!!!!

This post has nothing to do with the small man as if the Tribune actually cares about the small man

    Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they cared about the small man they would reduce their advertising rates!!

So let us get this silly small man argument out of it.
You are only using this argument as an excuse to hide the real truth.

The truth is the FNM now has a monopoly on the broadcast media and that is neither fair or just

Sorry but I do not expect FNM's to support a boycott!!!!!!
Quite frankly we do not need them to have an impact!!!!!

The fact is the merchant class, the professional class, and the very rich in this country do not support the PLP, and the PLP cannot get anything done without their support. Why don't they support the PLP in their majority? I cannot support the PLP as long as Fred Mitchel is one of the leaders, no sir.Get rid of Fred. I think that Allison would make a good leader based on what I have seen of her so far in the Senate, though she has to moderate her position on the need to follow rules and procedures as set out in law, or traditional policy.

Fred is one that stopped many from supporting them, but also, a Pastor type figure as the Minister of Security for a country with an ever increasing Crime Rate .. not in the best interest of the country IMO.

And that is typical PLP propaganda. Carter was asked to leave. The Guardian was at an all time low under his leadership. Ask him why he had to take the Guardian job when he has his own floundering radio station.
The cunning rat timed the announcement of his departure to coincide with the press release to make it APPEAR that he had left on principle. But he was asked to leave. Trust me, he needed the job.
